On the advert for Raw..

I just heard JR say ' a 30 man battle royal is the most dangerous match in WWE history'...seriously! Wtf are they thinking trying to bullshit us like that? And how weak does that make the inferno/last ride matches look if they're advertising the battle royal to be the most dangerous in WWE history? It doesn't even come close to being dangerous ffs.

The One 12-16-2006 09:43 PM

LMAO!

Elimination Chambers, Hell in a Cells, Infernos, Last Rides and now plain old Battle Royals...WWE is starting to sound like Tony Shiavone.

McLegend 12-16-2006 09:43 PM

Who cares. This is nothing to complain about

Londoner 12-16-2006 09:44 PM

^ I care.

Kane Knight 12-16-2006 09:44 PM

THAT IS SO BIZARRE!

Crippla 12-16-2006 09:45 PM

WWE overhypes everything that it sounds ridiculus these days. This has to be one of the most ridiculus that I've heard though.

Schoenauer 12-16-2006 09:46 PM

Next thing you know, JR will say Cena vs. Triple H will be the most dangerous match in WWE history.

That's what i was thinking. Its even more ridiculous when you think about the inferno/last ride matches they're going to have at Armageddon.

Yes but I wouldn't put it past them to still say the Inferno and Last Ride matches are the most dangerous matches in WWE history at the same time they just made a ridiculus statement saying the same thing about a 30 man battle royal.

The One 12-16-2006 09:53 PM

BAH GAWD! THOSE OTHER 29 MEN ARN'T MADE OF STUFF'N'PUFF!

Those are Smackdown matches though. If someone's hurt, no-one cares.

lol

It still highlights how pathetic the WWE is these days though.

Crippla 12-16-2006 10:03 PM

It shows how desperate they are imo.

addy2hotty 12-16-2006 10:05 PM

I've got a spoiler about Monday's Raw...(scroll down to view)

Or as The Rock said - 'It's the dangerousist match...'

Londoner 12-16-2006 10:14 PM

Now they've advertised it like that doesn't it just make all other stipulation matches look weak? I dunno but they've just killed my interest completely by saying that.

How honestly could you expect them to describe it? As 'just another 30 man Battle Royal?', a 'pointless battle royal as everyone knows that Cena will beat whoever it is anyway?'.

They have to big it up like that, because EVERYONE KNOWS that Cena will not lose the title.

It seems to me, that they got their extra hour on Raw and then thought 'fuck, what do we actually do with it?'. Some bright spark thought 'lets do that Royal Rumble thing'. Killing the individuality of that event. The only real event they have left that's a bit different.

Truth is, it's a-typical of the Raw bookers to come up with this shit, and attempt to have you believe that 'its HUGE'.

There isn't many candidates to win, I would love it if we had a surprise winner, like Eugene or something. But we won't. If Umaga enters, he'll win, if not, it'll be Orton or Edge, who will then be cost the title by DX.

Raw writes itself, when it's as terrible as it currently is.

The One 12-16-2006 10:23 PM

Can't they just advertise a 30-Man Battle Royal on RAW? Do they need to comment on how dangerous it is?

When people are desperate, they'll say anything.

MLW 12-16-2006 10:25 PM

Umaga cant win! He must not touch Cena :p
I think they should put alehandro or whatever Umagas loser manager is called in the batle rayal...then we woul have actual proof that the bookers had gone mad! Now we only have tons of evidence :D

I think we realised their madness when they brought K-Fed in.

As for Umaga winning and not being able to fight Cena as they aren't allowed physical contact til NYR (thats what she said), that will probably be the focus of the majority of the 2nd and 3rd hours of Raw.

They need to make Umy look the biggest ever threat to Cena, what better way then to crap all over 29 other guys.

Gerard 12-16-2006 10:38 PM

Would be an interesting match if it was gonna last any length of time, seeing as its on raw you'll have 3/4 of the contestents dumped over the top rope inside 10 mins.

CENA WINS

Are you kidding? didn't you see the banner at the preschool auditrium they're doing this week? "If Cena loses, we skip nap time!"

Of course he's gonna win. :D

Kane Knight 12-16-2006 11:09 PM

Anyway, this isn't about desperation. It's about some deranged Carnie who thinks that he can promote everything as the biggestest and bestest ever without devaluing the concept of big.

All you need to know about WWE hype can be learned from the SVR 06 voice track. "Every Smackdown is bigger and better than the one that came before it..."

Vastardikai 12-17-2006 02:35 AM

^

Ah, they went to the Tony Schiavone school of Hyping, then...

Exactly. The WWE seems to think that people will believe anything they hear, which is unfortunately true in some sad cases.

This Battle Royal should not be about the the level of danger involved in it, but rather should focus on the fact the winner gets a WWE Title shot the same night. They should also make mention of the fact that it is the largest in RAW history. That's all you need to do. They could have announced another match leading up to the event if they were so desperate. Hell, why not advertise Mickie James vs. Victoria for the WWE Women's Championship? That match will probably be blown off on free TV.

Why not put over matches in the logical fashion. The Last Ride Match is a stupid concept, partially because it's a fusion between Casket and Ambulance Matches, partially because The Undertaker has a 100% loss rate in the match. The Inferno Match has a very simple way of being promoted "A MOTHERFUCKER IS GOING TO GET BURNT!!!!!!".

The logical fashion to putting over a Battle Royal? 30 men have an equal opportunity to getting a shot at the WWE Championship. If the WWE were smart, they'd change the title next week, just to make it, you know, mean something.

My crazy guess for the outcome? Umaga wins, eliminating Ric Flair last, and the Samoan Bulldozer goes on to win the WWE Championship later that night. It puts him over as somewhat credible, and it allows John Cena to "beat the odds" again. Umaga isn't allowed to touch John Cena "unless it's in a match". Armando Alejandro Estrada could constantly provoke Cena into touching Umaga leading into the NYR PPV, just to try and get him to forfeit his title shot.

No doubt Cena will be leaving WWE Champion, though.

Or they put the belt on someone they plan on pushing to make Umaga/Cena a Triple Threat so neither of them need look weak.

Kane Knight 12-17-2006 10:49 AM

The Last Ride match is easy to book--ZOMG!!! UNDERTAKER WINS!

Too bad that won't help WWE draw any more viewers...

Londoner 12-17-2006 01:38 PM

Even if Undertaker loses I bet they continue to hype it up as 'his type of match'....

Pepsi Man 12-17-2006 02:11 PM

Speaking of desperate, how desperate do you have to be to use THIS to complain about, to the point of making an entire fucking thread about it?

Its not desperate, it just had to be mentioned. Its better than anything you've posted in a while anyway....

I mean, its ridiculous to advertise the battle royal as the most dangerous match in HISTORY don't you think? or are you too retarded to see that?
