Downloading Music

OK, I'm computer illiterate.

However, I just got a new computer and since I have burning capabilities on here, I am in the mood to finally be updated like everyone else - and get this, burn a music CD.

However, I am clueless as to what is the best and/or cheapest place to have access to download the music from. Where can I go that is worth it, reliable and maybe the best option financially to download crap from and burn it to a CD?

Help is muy appreciated-o.

Everyone is probably going to say Torrents (free but obviously illegal), so I'll say Napster Light. That's what I use. That and http://www.jamendo.com/en/ , unknown artists but free and legal albums.

Torrents are best.

If you're going to use torrents: http://www.demonoid.com/faq.php#bt_1

If you want a good peer to peer program: http://aresgalaxy.sourceforge.net/

Both of these are free. The music files you download through them will most likely be illegal.

On the aresgalaxy site, how do you then burn the songs / files to a disc? I got some stuff, but I have no idea how to get it on a disc from there.

Depends, most of the time computers with CD burners will have Nero - Burning Rom. So open that, and click create a audio CD, open Ares and what have you, click on a song you want on the CD, right click, locate file/folder, and from there copy, and paste in the Nero area, and voila, once you have enough songs go to burn CD, and the rest is pretty straight forward.

Yeah, once you d/l music, you burn them with a separate program like the aforementioned Nero or Easy CD Creator.

If you are gonna go illegal, you may as well do limewire or somekind of P2P shit. However, my virus protection is incredible so I dont have to worry about a damn thing.

Limewire is so shit now. Full of viruses and fake songs.

Just use Ares. It's faster and much less crap to sift through.

Vietnamese Crippler 02-04-2007 10:43 PM

^^ Yup, Limewire's gone the way of WinMX :'(

Blitz 02-05-2007 12:37 AM

Still pretty easy to find stuff on Limewire. You just gotta know what to look for.

Dunno what you're looking for, but generally, I find that older songs take a while to find and newer ones are loaded with fake files and links. Also a lot of them are crappily recorded and sound like shit.

Also Ares runs faster.

Also Ares can manage torrents.

Also Ares will suck your dick while your songs d/l.

K, that last one might be a lie.

Blitz 02-05-2007 04:32 AM

Newer songs (IE singles from albums that haven't come out yet) are easier to torrent. Pretty much any other single songs, Limewire is the way to go. Just gotta be able to recognize which ones are spoof files.

Blitz 02-05-2007 04:33 AM

Plus the few times I tried Ares I had a helluva time finding stuff that would download without a problem.
