The only good Simpsons game. They sure don't game games like this anymore.

Blitz 02-13-2007 08:24 PM

I remember myself, my sister and our cousins beating it 4 player_style. Good times.

Boondock Saint 02-13-2007 08:29 PM

Yeah good times.

Funky Fly 02-13-2007 08:45 PM

Dude, I beat that just last week using MAME.

Sadly, it's one of the very few games that will work on MAME for me.

Xero 02-13-2007 08:51 PM

I was thinking about this today. Probably my all-time favorite Arcade game after Turtles in Time (I believe that's what it's called). :y:

Evil Vito 02-13-2007 08:56 PM

Definately my favorite arcade game. Had fun times with this.

Isn't it pretty much identical to TMNT games?

Funky Fly 02-13-2007 09:59 PM

Yeah, which is why it kicks so much ass.

Xero 02-13-2007 10:00 PM

Yeah, I read it actually runs off the same engine.

Funky Fly 02-13-2007 10:05 PM

Well, they are both by Konami. Not very surprising for the same type of game to run on the same engine.

Xero 02-13-2007 10:06 PM

Did I sound surprised?

But yeah, the engine itself is awesome. I wonder what else they have used it for...

Bad Company 02-13-2007 10:11 PM

Friend of mine used to own this machine. Good times. Excellent game. Definately one of the only good simpsons games. Bart v Spacemutants was fucking sweet.

Xero 02-13-2007 10:12 PM

Was I the only one to love Virtual Bart?

I don't know what it was, but I loved that game.

Kane Knight 02-13-2007 10:21 PM

Virtual Bart? I don't remember that one.

Silent 02-13-2007 10:59 PM

You meant Virtual Springfield? That one was pretty cool, got to see inside the places, and lots of hidden stuff.

Fryza 02-14-2007 01:27 AM

There was an X-Men game like this, which kicked ass.

Don't think I ever saw this one before though.

Arashi Kage 02-14-2007 02:00 AM

I remember back in the early 90's beating the Simpsons arcade game at Chuck E Cheese with my cousin and brother. By the end of the game, fighting Mr. Burns in the robot suit, my bro and I were out of tokens, and my cousin was the one who beat it.

Fignuts 02-14-2007 03:04 AM

X-Men > TMNT > TMNT turtles in time > The simpsons

simpsons was still awesome tho. They were all released by konami. We should get a classics pack ffs.

Funky Fly 02-14-2007 03:54 AM

yeah, beat that x-men shits last week too. Magneto is a real bitch.

Nah, I remember Virtual Springfield too. Basically, Virtual Bart was a bunch of mini-games strung together by the premise of Bart wearing a virtual reality headset (which were huge at the time, remember? :D) You could play as Bart when he was a baby, there was a biker-based one, a water slide... few others too, only vaguely remember it though.

mitchables 02-14-2007 08:02 AM

Hook in.

Bart vs. The World and Bart Simpson's Escape From Camp Deadly were great too.

KingofOldSchool 02-14-2007 08:49 AM

This, the Turtles game, the X-Men game, and WWF Wrestlefest ate up all of my tokens at the arcade when I was a kid.

The Genius 02-14-2007 12:27 PM

funny you mention this arcade game. they have it at my university's union game room still. just played it a few weeks ago. of course as a kid i spent the time and money to play all the way thru to beat the game.

thecc 02-14-2007 01:28 PM

I believe there was also a Spiderman game by Konami.

Mr Regal 02-14-2007 01:57 PM

That simpsons game reminds me of motorway service stations!

Lock Jaw 02-14-2007 04:42 PM

Not an arcade game, but I always liked Bart's Nightmare. Except the Temple of Maggie level was impossible.

KingofOldSchool 02-14-2007 07:11 PM

Our mall has the old X-Men arcade game sitting around.

Like hell. Bartzilla was the impossible one. Constant barrages of things you have little way to kill which slowly kill you. I got through the Temple of Maggie stages eventually. I've been through all of it except Bartzilla.

Funky Fly 02-14-2007 09:20 PM

Bartzilla is piss easy for me. Temple of Maggie... soooo gay.

Jeritron 02-15-2007 05:24 AM

One of the greatest arcade games ever. Animation looked so faithful to the show too. Great times back then.

This game, 6player Xmen, and Turtles in Time as well as Spiderman and The Avengers were Arcadge GREATS

Always loved the co-op sidewalk scroll type games. Always marked out for the console versions of Streets of Rage and Maximum Carnage too.

This Simpsons game and the Xmen and Turtles games are actually 3 things I'll be getting once I get a place. They're reasonably cheap to buy.

M-A-G 02-15-2007 03:53 PM

Anytime that game or TMNT or X-Men were in an arcade, I needed to be forcably removed.

Russenmafia 02-21-2007 02:37 PM

Golden Axe was a classic in the arcades. They released an arcade only sequel called "Golden Axe: Return of Death Adder" which was excellent.

Kane Knight 02-21-2007 03:16 PM

I was royally pissed because the X-Men game was only avilable in my town for like 2 weeks. Some asshat broke the machine and they just let an "out of order" sign on it for months, then carted it off entirely.

The Diva 02-21-2007 07:09 PM

Who doesn't remember this game? As everyone says, it's up there with the old Turtles game. I always remember all these together with like, Double Dragon and this one Batman game, I can't remember the name though. I still say the Friday the 13th game was great... being the fat counselors were fun times : )

BloodRiotZero 03-01-2007 01:21 AM

Wasn't it Captain America & The Avengers?

But yeah, fuckin sweeeet games along with X-men and both Turtles games. Konami should definitely release a classics arcade package with those games!

Don't think these were ever in the arcades but Capcom's Marvel games were sweet too, The Punisher, X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse, and Marvel Super Heroes were awesome!

Funky Fly 03-01-2007 01:49 AM

Captain America & The Avengers... a lot of great memories from that one as well. I played it again recently, and sadly it's quite a terrible game.

"AMERICA STILL NEEDS YOUR HELP!"

Ninti the Mad 03-01-2007 01:49 AM

It used to piss me off how much better the arcade versions of games were when compared to the consoles.

And then THEY NEVER RERELEASED THE ACTUAL ARCADE VERSIONS.

Perhaps Xbox live or someone will release he arcade versions of these games.

Xero 03-01-2007 08:25 AM

Fuck, I'd pay the full $60 for a compilation of all the Konami arcade fighters.
