Do you think WWE will EVER fire Randy Orton?

I don't mean in 7 years time when he's a washed up jobber, but I mean in the next year or two.

He has more than warranted termination on so many occasions, yet they let him go unpunished for the most part, short suspension at most.

My take is that, as big a headache as Orton has proven, TNA would snap him up in a second. The fact that Orton remains with the company, to me, proves that WWE do see TNA as a potential threat.

NeanderCarl 04-23-2007 02:15 AM

Fifty years ago, they'd have had him upside down with a fucking black ball up his ass.

Yea, and if WWE let go of their top tier wrestlers TNA would pose that threat. I do not think that Vince is that stupid.

NeanderCarl 04-23-2007 03:09 AM

That's what I am saying. That's my point.

But it's giving these main event guys carte blanche to fuck up at will, with the knowledge that WWE are highly unlikely to release them for fear of handing an edge to TNA. RVD comes to mind too... despite the whole drug bust incident, they are still courting him for a new contract. In the past, he would have been fired almost immediately (see Duggan, J. Sheik, I.)

Mr. Nerfect 04-23-2007 03:13 AM

I think Randy Orton will one day find himself out of the company, and I think the competition will snap him up. I don't think Orton will so much change the face of professional wrestling if that happens, but I think he would have a more entertaining run with the change of scenery.

NeanderCarl 04-23-2007 03:23 AM

That's the problem with the modern business.... by rights, TNA shouldn't have even considered Kurt Angle for employment, yet they're throwing him out there in Iron Man matches. It's a joke, but it's dog eat dog.

Guys who cannot behave, cannot work or cannot stay sober are being snapped up because of their name power, and put into high profile positions. There is no punishment in being fired, only rewards.

M-A-G 04-23-2007 05:33 AM

Orton has tenure. He ain't going anywhere.

Dave Youell 04-23-2007 05:56 AM

Thing is, when Orton is off the reigns so to speak, he's actually a much better worker than he comes across as.

Still has some of the best rest holds in the business though

darkpower 04-23-2007 07:54 AM

While I don't agree with some of Orton's antics, one may have to ponder the contexts of which he has done some of the things he has done. I personally, which I do believe it, never heard of the story in which he shitted in the bag. The cunt thing, well, I dunno what was said that led to him screaming in that girl's face. And this recent thing with the hotel thing, I haven't read the thread recently (as in, since a day or so ago), but that's kind of vague of what lead to his dismissal from the tour about the room.

Listen to me trying to put a journalistic perspective on this, like a Keith Olbermann or a Murrow.

Good night and good luck. :shifty:

Make no mistake, he can chinlock with the best of him. If you're lucky to catch him on a good night you can easily pick out seven different ones in the course of one match.

Theo Dious 04-23-2007 08:01 AM

Orton is going to have to do something severe to get fired, not just these frat boy antics.

M-A-G 04-23-2007 08:05 AM

Known types that I've managed to notice:
The pissed off "I'm gonna pull the head off this Gummi Bear" one.
Relaxed.
The "pondering what I'm gonna do for dinner later" one.
Cocky.
The "I forgot the next sequence".
The "Do I got something on my face?" lock
"Dude, check out the chick in the third row" of Doom.
The "No, seriously, I feel like there's something on my face" one.
One of my personal favorites, the "Haha, it's the darndest thing. I totally forgot what I was gonna say. Never mind" chinlock.

Seriously. If you can't get fired for freaking GOOSESTEPPING what can you get fired for?

You forgot about the "Hmm, I think this guy's dead but I'd better make sure before causing a panic."

Questioning Vince's marching orders.
Slipping Linda Viagra and sending her after Shane.
Whining about your slut girlfriend leaving you for a catfish.
Doing drugs..........:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:No, not really

Theo Dious 04-23-2007 09:54 AM

A catfish? Is that some sort of cocksucking reference I don't get? :wtf:

JT 04-23-2007 11:49 AM

Remember...Rhyno got let go for breaking a pot...this man shit in a woman's bag and destroyed a room to what recent rumors say. If he wasn't in the position he's in with now with the company, he would have been shit canned long ago.

BigDaddyCool 04-23-2007 12:12 PM

If they were to fire Orton, I hope they job him out to Bobcore and Mark Henry first, thus uping the chance of him getting injured. Then fire him so he is worthless to TNA.

The One 04-23-2007 12:12 PM

Randy Orton is the future of this business. Sorry, but it's true. He's not going anywhere.

By having Bischoff FedEx-ing him a pink slip. :shifty:

While I disagree with him being the future, I do agree he isn't going anywhere any time soon.

The One 04-23-2007 12:22 PM

Let me slightly rephrase that, I think Orton has all the potential to be the next biggest thing in wrestling, I don't think WWE will capitolize on it, I KNOW TNA wouldn't be able to.

Hanso Amore 04-23-2007 12:28 PM

He is their Only main Eventer Under 30. He is the only one with potentially 10 years left. They need him. They need someone who will be here in 5 years. Honestly, HBK, HHH, Undertaker, and Batista dotn have that time at the top left. they will begone, and Edge and kennedy will be in their spot, the on the way out elders.

Jordan 04-23-2007 02:34 PM

I remember when Orton was the shit, when he got injured and had his little updates, that was great, but I don't think I have ever been impressed with his in ring skills. I hope he is fired and ends up going to Japan, learning how to entertain well then finally ends up in TNA.

Anybody Thrilla 04-23-2007 02:38 PM

I'm not so sure that all the WWE talents would be so OK with going to TNA, to be fair.

Jeritron 04-23-2007 03:04 PM

Yea all they'd have to do is take one look at the paycheck and they'd miss being buried.

As "bad" as I'd like to feel for them, they could have new stars, but they buried most of them. They chose to go with aging veterans and to push guys who were nearing the end of their usefulness (bats), and that's going to bite them in teh ass, one way or another.

Orton's just about all they've got, I'm not arguing. I just want to add that you reap what you sow. I take no pleasure in it, because it means I'm stuck with shitty wrstling or no wrestling for another decade or so, butit is what is it.

Jeritron 04-23-2007 03:28 PM

age means very little actually. Batista got pushed at a late age. Foley retired at like 34 I belive. Austin never hit the big time until late in his career, and he was the biggest thing ever.
So how can you forsee who will be retiring when, who will be in their spots, and who will be the future. Especially when you don't even know who will be around in a few years time.
Sure Orton is young, but that doesn't mean he'll amount to shit. And I wouldn't count on HHH retiring anytime soon. See Ric Flair.

Kane Knight 04-23-2007 05:20 PM

Batista, the guy who keeps getting injued, is a good example of the dangers of a later push.

Yeah, but when you do that much roids, it fucks up your bones and so you are more injury prone. Which is what is happening to Bats.

Jordan 04-23-2007 08:52 PM

DDP was in his forties during his big push.

NeanderCarl 04-23-2007 08:56 PM

Maybe they should take him off the main roster and dump him in OVW on his downside for a couple years, teach him a lesson.

Or maybe they should bring in the Iron Sheik to put him in the camel clutch, break his back, fuck his ass and make him humble the old country way.

Interesting, is this based of something that really happened. I would like to hear the story.

No.

We can name guys who got pushed late in life and count them on one hand. Or we can accept that only a small percent of guys can actually take the WWE grind late into their life. Look at Nash and Hall. They are younger than some, and around the same age as HBK. But they are DONE! You have to play the odds and assume Matt Leinart is going to be playing longer than Brett Favre

If you're suggesting we make either of them World Champion you can just fuck off right now.

Thank you for the common sense. It seems it was sorely needed.

Basically, people are saying "look at the exceptions."
