Longest Build-Up for a feud?
 

Anyone know what the longest build-up, from start to finish, for a feud was?

I'm talking one storyline, not where they break away from each other for a while and go back at it.

My guess is Tazz/Sabu, but I have a feeling I'm wrong.

Sting v nWo took an entire year.

Hogan vs McMahon was 20 YEARS IN THE MAKING!!!

While Hogan would love to paint himself as the face in this fued, I would have to take the side of McMahon.

Sting vs. Hogan/nWo must be it

So to follow, what was the longest build-up for a feud between two active guys, aka when one wasn't just staring from the rafters?

Didn't Bret vs HBK take a long time?

Yeah but that wasn't buildup, it was just a long feud, and actually a string of smaller feuds.

Owen Hart vs Bret Hart?

John Cena. vs. Jesus...

Taz and Sabu would have to be it.

We had that feud in 2004 and Cena went over.

The Stone Cold/McMahon feud lasted pretty long.

I can't say a definite answer, but it surely isn't anything from WWF/WWE, WCW or ECW. It would have to be something from the territory days, and probably something from Watts' territory or NWA in general [somewhere in the South; that's where feuds laste the longest].

While Sting had gotten injured they had bulit up the Sting/Flair feud where Sting got the WCW title from Dec 89 till they finally met in July 1990.

How long did Dreamer/Raven last for?

Didn't Sabu leave halfway through the feud? Or was that the cause of the feud when he came back?

I know this isn't the longest feud ever but the Eddie/Rey feud from 2005 I think seemed to last ages. Longest WWE feud I can remember - bar Austin/Vince.

Has there ever been a long ass feud build up for it to be completely dropped or for the end to never happen?

I think they held the WWE Tag Team Championship titles in late 2004 and Mysterio was always the one to get the victory for the team. Then they had a few 'friendly' matches here and there with Mysterio always going over. Then they had their WrestleMania 21 match. Then Guerrero started changing into heel Eddie and then they had that whole Dominick thing that ended at SummerSlam '06 I believe.
