Wow (raw main event spoilers)
 

The buildup was great tonight. Kane's pyro scared the shit out of me, and when Lesnar came from behind I marked out for the first time in over a year. Raw is seemingly getting better and better.


Your thoughts?

It all seemed way too rushed to me.

Part of the problem with the announcement is that as a fan I haven't been told that RAW guys cant fight SD guys. Had they played up the fact that interpromotional matches cannot be booked on a regular basis, then the announcement that at Mania they can be would have been a bigger deal. The way it was, I think most of the crowd expected the matches to be booked. Not that thats a bad thing, but the whole thing came off as being not that big of a deal, of course that could also be a result of the fact that Ive known about these matches since like Spet.

Austin as part of the Lesnar-Goldberg deal is good, although I hope they dont shift the focus away from the actual workers on to Austin. lesnar had to do something to Austin since it look slike Goldberg wont be on TV till Mania. Now Austin has a beef with both guys, and that makes the match more unpredictable.

Long-term planning here, I think it would be sweet if they started a build to Austin vs Lesnar for Wrestlemania XXI. I said this before, but I think Austin should Stun Goldberg after the match at Mania to send him packing. However, it might be cool if Austin went to Stun Lesnar, but Lesnar gets out of the way. Then on the 3 Big PPVs we see confrontations between Austin and Lesnar, finally leading to the match at Mania next year.

Vince vs Eric was a useless waste of time.

I thought it was a good show all the way around.

I have noticed a slight rise in the RAW product over the last month.

I am however, dissipointed that Victoria won the Woman's Belt. There are too many heel women. A face holding the belt (Lita) would make the matches better, and more logical.

Maybe Stacy and Ms. Jackie should wrestle.


Anyways, I didn't like the main event, but at least Hunter didn't wrestle tonight, and that is always a plus

My one big complaint with the way the interpromotional matches were actually booked, was that it seemed like all you really had to do was beg Vince and it was done, Kane and Taker should have been announced tonight. Berg vs Brock on Smackdown via Brock snapping and forcing Vince to book it or risk getting killed, and Jackie/Stacey vs Sable/Torrie... well that just shouldn't happen.

As a whole though, it worked well to me.

As Splaya just said, Victoria is a face now.

Also keep Lita away from the title, she's not very good.

I think that the ease that the interpromotional matches were booked weakens the brand extension.

There could have been more buildup yes. But I think they wanted to get them all out of the way on one night, so for the next 3 weeks they can take everything to the absolute best level that they can.

Not just the build up, but look at the premise behind the extension:

2 SEPERATE brands. They have worked hard to distance the 2 brands in the past (giving them their own champs, etc.) yet, they can easily just ASK and they get an interpromotional match.

Well, then why didn't anyone ASK earlier?

If this was played like 2 TRUE seperate brands, you couldn't just ask. Nobody in WCW was able to ASK Turner for a shot at a WWE guy.

They need to keep the brands seperate.

I can rant all night and trust me your wrong. Cause it's about one thing, the Raw/SD brand extension doesn't mean jackshit right now. The only thing that matters is Vince getting his buyrates. It's about the almighty dollar in the end. And the only way he is going to do that is by getting people to hear the big ass matches that there are going to be. Plus I guarantee at least 1 diva in that tag team evening gown- missed spot fest tag match goes nude. I guarantee it.

So your telling me you have no interest in the triple threat match, the Lesnar/Goldberg match and how Austin will fit into that, the Diva match, and the biggest and best buildup so far this Century: The Kane/Taker match. Honestly man if this doesn't make you order a PPV then please go talk somewhere else. I've got a satellite dish and I already have it pre ordered.

I just wanna see the Diva match for nude women, not the match.

Taker/Kane slightly interests me, but not enough to order the whole show (I'll borrow the tape from by buddy).

I have always been a fan of great wrestling not this Goldberg/Lesner brawl fest that they are highlighting.

The Benoit/HBK/HHH match would be good, except we all know how it will turn out, and that HHH won't go down clean.

If you really beleive that any of those four is going to end up naked for more time than the nipple flashes we've seen from Jackie on Raw, then you are an even sorrier individual than your posts indicate.

I may complain a lot about the WWE, but thats because the product has been going south for the better part of 3 years now, so its justified. Also, I dont just bitch about how bad things are, I contribute ideas/news items. Well, if you are a fan of great wrestling then you will want to see WMXX simply for the Eddie Guerrero vs. Kurt Angle match. This match could easily end up being match of the year. Not to mention the cruiserweight battle royal that is rumored to happen. Y2J vs Christian should also be pretty good as well. If RVD and Booker T actually make it on the card, (I can only hope) Then i am sure that they will put on a good match too. Foley/Rock vs Evolution (rumored) should very good also. Basically, I think this is shaping up to be a very good Wrestlemania that is worth buying.

Yeah I noticed that (how could you miss it), its funny that Eric is a legit karate expert (well maybe not an expert, but he's decent I assume) and yet Vince cant sell a kick from a guy who knows karate. I know wrestling is a work, and it doesn't have to be 100% realistic, but geez, you would think Vince could sell something.

I actually wasn't trying to get support or anything (but like I said its appreciated), my main point was I dont see the point of anyone using personal attacks. I know thats going to happen all the time on a public message board, but I expect the people who have been here a long time, and actually know a thing or two about wrestling (so they dont 'need' to resort to name calling) to stick to talking about wrestling. You can disagree and think someone's points are dumb, but when we get the name calling stuff I think it wastes everyone's time.
