Are house shows really that necessary?

You have these wrestlers work extra shows that aren't even televised, have no actual implications on storylines, and don't get the best of attendance.

With all the talk about steroids recently, do you think it would be best for WWE and other wrestling promotions to dramatically reduce or even abolish the whole concept of house shows to give wrestlers more time to recupereate?

The Naitch 07-03-2007 12:45 AM

i agree, they are pretty pointless

Impact! 07-03-2007 01:30 AM

It's all about the money

PapaGeorgio 07-03-2007 01:47 AM

Yeah, it produces revenue, keeps wrestlers active. Also helps wrestlers get comfortable wrestling each other, practice different finishes and stuff before going on TV. Although I do agree they should cut back on some. Was even thinking today about how bad would it really be if there was like a 1 month off season for wrestling, just air best of type stuff or something while they are off. But would be weird just to stop in middle of storylines and that.

D-Von Dudley

D Mac 07-03-2007 06:06 AM

It gives smaller towns a chance to see it live.

DrA 07-03-2007 06:16 AM

I don't think that's the case anymore, as WWE is desperate in looking for places to sell out their televised shows these days.

True Brit Grit 07-03-2007 06:45 AM

Best place to go if you want to see WWE live for the first time, I reckon.

I took in a few before I ever got the chance to see a TV show live and the difference in 'wrestling' as you'd expect is pretty big.

House shows are a bit more entertaining in my opinion.

House Shows:

If they didn't have them they couldn't nurture the new talent, or try anything out until it went on live TV, so yes I think they are a good thing.

Plus most of the under card guys would be flat out broke

mrslackalack 07-07-2007 11:08 PM

I like House Shows, but what I think would attract more people to go to them is if they had more frequent title changes at the show.

Who won a title at a house show and actually carried it over?

Bret Hart won his first WWF title from Ric Flair at a house show.

McLegend 07-14-2007 04:22 PM

La Résistance won the Tag titles from Regel and Coach on a house show.

Jordan 07-14-2007 04:27 PM

Edge beat Shamrock for the IC title and Nash beat Backlund for the WWF Title.

Booker T beat Christian for the IC title

Savio 07-14-2007 10:07 PM

Offtopic: besdies halftime heat did a title ever change hands on sunday night heat? besides hardcore or before a ppv?

mrslackalack 07-14-2007 11:08 PM

Essa Rios beat Gillberg to win the Light Heavyweight Title in Feb 2000 on an episode of Heat.

mrslackalack 07-14-2007 11:09 PM

Edge beat Jarrett for the I-C title not Shamrock. And Christian beat Booker to win the I-C title.

mrslackalack 07-14-2007 11:12 PM

Didnt Christian beat Bradshaw for the European title at a House Show? or was it on T.V.? Also Didnt Spike beat Regal for the European Title at a house show or was that a UK PPV?

mrslackalack 07-14-2007 11:13 PM

I believe the most recent title change at a house show was this spring with the Womens Title, but that happened as an accident as was not planned.

Jerry Lynn won the Light Heavyweight Title on his debut on Sunday Night Heat (against Crash Holly?)

Pardeep 619 07-15-2007 08:24 AM

It was actually Crash Holly that beat Regal at a UK house show for the Eurpean Title, then at the following house show Regal won it back.

Which one? I ask, because I know Edge vs. Jarrett was non-televised, and Shotgun Saturday Night was finished by the time any Christian vs. Booker title change would've taken place.

Jordan 07-15-2007 02:40 PM

At SS 98 they showed Edge beating Jarrett at a house show.

That was Rebellion 2000. Either that or both.

HBK and Diesel beat the Headshrinkers for the tag titles at a house show right before Summerslam 94'...

addy2hotty 07-16-2007 05:14 PM

Money Inc beat LOD for the Tag Titles at a house show. Alledgedly. I may be wrong but I think the Natural Disasters also beat Money Inc for the same titles on a house show.

Savio 07-16-2007 05:29 PM

Well JR said it was on shotgun saturday :(

Stickman 07-16-2007 07:04 PM

Didn't Bret Hart win the Championship from Ric Flair at a house show in Saskatchewan?

Very well stated

House shows = practice

TV shows = Game Day

PPV's = Big Games....:shifty:
