earliest wrestling memory?

Michaels skinning the cat at the royal rumble then getting back in and knocking the British Bulldog out

Yours?

chrisat928 07-05-2007 04:38 PM

Attending Wrestlemania 3.

FourFifty 07-05-2007 04:39 PM

I can't recall the event, but someone was flipping through the stations and looking back it was The Bushwhackers vs Rythm & Blues. After that there's a loooong gap in my memory that picks up when I was renting an old wrestling VHS every weekend.

True Brit Grit 07-05-2007 05:01 PM

Undertaker's entrance at RR'94 and Yoko's reaction... Also Razor/HBK at Mania 10. I used to love Doink in those days.

IC Champion 07-05-2007 05:07 PM

Shawn Michaels putting Marty Jennetty's face through the barbar shop window, or whatever.

Xero 07-05-2007 05:17 PM

Earliest I can remember is a promo with Sting and the nWo, before Sting went Crow.

My most vivid early memory is my first house show.

Cactus Sid 07-05-2007 05:25 PM

Summerslam 92, Bulldog beating Bret for the IC title.

I was 6 years old, but even then you could tell it was a hell of a match

Erebus 07-05-2007 05:27 PM

Wrestlemania 4 for me.

Young'ns these days.

Mr. JL 07-05-2007 05:39 PM

Bret Hart vs. 1-2-3 Kid

Mr. Pierre 07-05-2007 06:00 PM

Since Summerslam '96 was my first ever show that I watched, I remember the pre-show match between Austin and Yokozuna. I couldn't even tell you who won though. The only memory I have of it was the middle rope snapping..or has my memory been twisted? But yea, Austin vs. Yoko is my first memory.

True Brit Grit 07-05-2007 06:02 PM

Nope you're right. Yoko (then @ 660lbs) went for a Banzai and pulled the top rope clean off, fell onto his ass and Austin covered and got the pin.

Rob 07-05-2007 06:13 PM

Watching British wrestling with my gran and grandad. Gran died in 1985 so it was before I was 5.

Jordan 07-05-2007 06:33 PM

I slept over at my aunts house when I was a kid, and the best thing I remember was we would rent WWF tapes from the video store. The first I saw was Royal Rumble 91', she was a mark for The Undertaker, so I became one as well, along with my older brother. Also we marked out for the Ultimate Warrior.

I really started watching in '93 during an episode of Superstars. Yokozuna v.s some jobber I remembered it was awesome, plus Shawn Michaels wrestled and I thought he was awesome! Hahaha and then I remember WCW was on right after, World Wide maybe and I saw Eddie Guerrero and the poor produciton quality and I was thinknig "What happend to the good one".

Shame of me for Eddie, I know.

Loose Cannon 07-05-2007 06:36 PM

I don't really know. I always read these baby books that my parents kept saying I was really into wrestling and what not around age 4, which was about 1987. But I can't really remmeber much until likr 1989 from watching Sat morning shows

Anybody Thrilla 07-05-2007 06:48 PM

I seem to remember a Ted Dibease match from around the time Zeus was feuding with Hogan.

diothoir 07-05-2007 07:03 PM

My earliest wrestling memory was Ahmed Johnson getting beat up by the Nation.

My parents have told me I was a fan of wrestling from about 5 years old though.

311 07-05-2007 07:45 PM

This threat makes me feel old and I'm only twenty three.

Then again, I started watching wrestling when I was three.

Seriously. But maybe some people didn't get into wrestling as early as we did?

311 07-05-2007 07:54 PM

Maybe. I just find it nuts that people's earliest memories are toward the beginning of Attitude.

I remember Hillbilly Jim, Big John Stud, Dusty Rhodes, Harley Race, Ric Flair, ect when I think of my earliest memories. But I think you might be right. I started way earlier than most. :y:

DRBailey 07-05-2007 09:23 PM

Saturday morning on Sky One Feb 93, Razor vs Doink recap from RAW on Wrestling Challenge, ended with em fighting through the crowd if I recall.

El Fangel 07-05-2007 09:29 PM

Watching The Cuban Assassin versus Someone at a house show, I was like 4 and on my dad's knee.

sulzerdrone 07-05-2007 09:40 PM

cuban assassin was an awesome heel, I remember watching him on stampede wrestling saturday mornings and hating him. Him and karachi vice.

NeanderCarl 07-05-2007 10:43 PM

My first wrestling memory is of Ric Flair winning a match at Survivor Series 1991 when everybody else in the match was simulataneously disqualified. They replayed it on one of the weekend shows, and that's the first wrestling I ever saw on TV.

That can't be right. Both were heels. Sure it wasn't Razor vs Kid? I remember they fought to the back, as Kid stole Razor's bag full of money and did a runner out of the Manhattan Centre.

Zeeboe 07-05-2007 10:46 PM

1988...NBC's WWF Saturday Night's Main Event Wrestling...Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant for the title.

Cooler Tom Schuler 07-05-2007 11:40 PM

Haha, earliest memory...

Nailz coming down out of the audience and beating the Big Bossman severely.

:D That STILL brings back memories..... Which reminds me, I need to call my brother and rub it in his face again.

Nailz, huh?
This means I've been a wrestling fan longer than the great "Cooler" Tom Schuler.

FourFifty 07-06-2007 01:15 AM

...That means in these parts, I'm cooler than him.

The Optimist 07-06-2007 01:51 AM

Bigelow starting a fight on Raw before Nash and Goldberg's Starrcade match. Yeah I'm a pugnacious youth. That was only . . . what nine years or so ago. . .

Nervous Ferret 07-06-2007 01:58 AM

wen holk hogen boddyslamered andy giant!

Esoteric 07-06-2007 02:16 AM

My first one was the Sting and Black Scorpion storyline and how he would interupt Stings matches and one time it lead to him throwing someone over the top rope and I think it was Jim Ross acted as if Sting killed someone and people were booing and shit.

NeanderCarl 07-06-2007 02:16 AM

Ha... I wish his name had been Andy Giant.

Rammsteinmad 07-06-2007 02:49 AM

1-2-3 Kick beating Razor Ramon.

Impact! 07-06-2007 04:58 AM

Stone Cold being run over for some reason

Vastardikai 07-06-2007 11:11 PM

First images: Hulk Hogan losing to Andre the Giant on a SNME (with the twin ref gimmick). Road Warriors taking a spike to Dusty's eye. Lex Luger as a member of the 4 Horsemen.

First Show I attended: McCallister Field House '90 or '91. Double Main Event featuring Sting and the Steiners vs. Windham, Arn Anderson, and Sid, as well as Ric Flair vs. El Gigante (Flair chopped him so hard he legit drew blood on his chest.) Also had a killer match with Dustin Rhodes vs. Bobby Eaton (who worked heel, despite supposing to be face on TV)

JT 07-07-2007 12:40 AM

I'm unclear on my memory as I remember it involving the premiere of Mankind and Hulk Hogan...which were 2 very different times.

I guess the clearest memory I had was Shawn Michaels vs. Goldust on Raw in 1996 for the World Championship. I didn't watch wrestling fully till 1998, right after Starcade '97.

SammyG 07-07-2007 12:43 AM
