How do you see ratings being effected with Cena out of the picture?

I see the ratings staying around where they are.

However, I am curious about how the WWE could explain a ratings boost with Cena out.

FourFifty 10-03-2007 12:52 AM

Hardcore spike, and then it'll go back to normal.

Mr. Nerfect 10-03-2007 12:53 AM

I think they will actually go up. Not a huge boost, but there will be interest in the new WWE Champion, and if the programming is good, they could continue.

John Cena as WWE Champion was boring. There is no kinder way to put it. Cena has been bland since 2005, and a large part of 2004, and his reigns have lasted way too long. Anything else is at least interesting.

Even a black guy saying the same word for some form of comedy?

Dorkchop 10-03-2007 01:33 AM

Hmm... They'll probably stay the same. I'd like to think they'd go up, but I can easily think about how they'd go down. Same for the reverse.

Even a black guy saying the same word for some form of comedy. Only slightly, though. Triple H being WWE Champion might be the only exception. That will suck a lot of dick.

The WWE can't expect the ratings to go up if they take another Superman and give him the title. It's the exact same thing, and interest will disappear. They need to go with something different at this point in time.

I still say go with the Battle Royal and the surprise winner.

Fox 10-03-2007 02:35 AM

They'll go down.

Hundreds of thousands of mothers will have much easier times putting their 10 and 12-year old boys to sleep on Monday nights,

And hundreds of thousands of plain, husky teenage girls will find something else to masturbate to on Monday nights. Probably football.

addy2hotty 10-03-2007 04:22 AM

I'll be staying up on Monday night to watch for the first time in years. Just because NO CENA.

Spoiler: Triple H wins

Tommy Gunn 10-03-2007 07:34 AM

Triple H overcomes the odds!

This ould be a great time for ratings to go up, but they're lacking anyone credible to step up, thanks to Cena and Trips spanking the roster. It'll be hard to draw people in.

I think there will be some ratings increase from the hype from SAVE_Us.222 and such, but I think there will be little to no initial change.

On the upside, the ratings will likely not go down anymore, either.

I think you have it perfectly right. Now would be the time for change, and for a fresh face to become a star. However, the smart money is on Triple H taking over, and things being just as bland. No change.

Kane Knight 10-03-2007 10:20 AM

IF they could step someone up, it would be awesome. If they could step someone up and create a memorable feud, it could lead to an increase in ratings.

If WWE does what they usually do, Trips will hold the title for the next 8 months and no benefit can be gained.

Tommy Gunn 10-03-2007 10:32 AM

I reckon Randy will pick up the title this Sunday and then do a 2/3 month program with Trips, resulting in the Game winning. Then Trips will keep the belt warm for Cena.

Xero 10-03-2007 10:32 AM

Unless they panic and bring a lot of the big stars from SmackDown! and ECW over to RAW and/or they improve the writing (lol), I doubt ratings will stay up for more than two weeks.

I don't doubt there will be at least a small spike next week.

Damn it, you beat me to it.

Ratings will go up cena or not

JERICHO = GOD

by which i mean ratings

Kane Knight 10-03-2007 01:00 PM

All I can say is that Raw's been hanging around 2.9 for a month plus, which I think is a pretty good indication things are bad. But WWE can't capitalise on it, I'm pretty sure.

br0ken 10-05-2007 10:13 AM

No change. People that watch will keep watching. People that don't watch will keep not watching. People that stop watching because they are tired of a John Cena or other people will maybe watch again but that is not enuff to effects the ratings by themself. To boost rating anything big they need a mainline angle again./

A mainline angle would be funny in the current environment. Maybe he could feud with Punk.

Anyway, while I don't think you're completely wrong, it's utterly ridiculous to say the people who went away because of Cena can't make an impact.

Don't get me wrong, I think they won't, but there was a huge drop in ratings that can be largely attributed to the fans utterly hating John Cena. That it would otherwise just happen to coincide with the fan reactions is just too tinfoil hat, drink the Kool-Aid for me.

Thing is, I don't think it'll make much of a difference. I think WWE'll probably just slap the title on Triple H, and things will be business as usual. I think they'll screw up their big chance for a change in course, and continue to throw money at Cena and HHH.

That is probably the most intellegent thing ever said on this board. See people, he isn't a complete fuckwad, brOken comes up with jewels when he wants to.

Anybody who complains about Cena, yet fails to tune in religiously during his absence, is a filthy hipocrite who will thusly forfeit their right to bitch on the internet.

Dude, the internet is full of filthy hypocrites who hate the show but refuse to stop watching no matter how bad it gets. they whine and bitch about how awful it is, and tune in like the stupid motherfuckers they are.

I somehow doubt a single person who falls under your statement hasn't already forfeited their right. They will anyway. Because the internet smark is by nature a whiny, hypocritical, and most of all, stupid being.

BigDaddyCool 10-05-2007 11:26 AM

Yeah, I am fully commited to being a filthy hypocrite. Get used to it. I still love wrestling and will put up with complete crap with the promise of a resthold to be seen.

Kane Knight 10-05-2007 11:28 AM

Yes, we know, BDC.

Though I figured you just tuned in for Boogen.

BigDaddyCool 10-05-2007 11:30 AM

1) Boogen is only on ECW

2) Boogen isn't even on ECW anymore :(

So I got to watch something. Anyhow, at least I admit my faults while still refusing to correct them. That is something, ain't it?

I thought it was the fairly decent chance of seeing a minority take a chairshot to the head. That's why I watch, mostly. Who's the hypocrite now, eh?!?!?! :shifty:

BigDaddyCool 10-05-2007 11:32 AM

Oh yeah, I love me some hate crimes. Like when Christian was bashing Coma Joe's head with a conchairto, that was awesome. I also enjoy when the blacks are fighting the mexicans, because the white man is the real winner. Anyhow.

Johnny Vegas 10-05-2007 01:21 PM

Anyway,

Cena's absence will spark some interest, but it will all depend on how the WWE will handle this. Giving the title to HHH is pretty much inevitable, b/c nobody can draw, for they have been job'd too much. Can anyone even see Cena being interesting w/o the freestyles (since he doesnt do them nemore) and without the title?

Kane Knight 10-05-2007 03:00 PM

I could see him as entertaining whether or not he freestyles. They just need to stop cramming him down our throats as the übbermensch babyface.
