My buddy will teach me the basics, since we are roomates, but there's alot of things I am clueless about when it comes to the technical aspects of things

My buddies' crew are MC's but now (2 of them) are starting a progressive experimental band. These guys are pretty much anti-top 40 (mainstream) when it comes to their taste in music. They're influenced by underground hip-hop and indie rock

To be fair, I've seen some pretty impressive stuff made with Fruityloops. One of my friends swears by it, and he can do some good stuff with it.

The crappy stuff is most likely made by lazy bastards. Not that I should talk, because I don't have the patience to dick around with Fruityloops, but still.
