Games that need sequels

I'm going to start of with Skies of Arcadia. One of the best rated Dreamcast RPGs, its combat system and exploration mechanics made it fun despite two dimensional, ridiculous Bishy characters. There's a rumour we'll see a sequel in 2008-2009, but there have been rumours of a sequel before, and it's never happened.

Not owning a Dreamcast, I've only played the remake for the Gamecube, and it was one of the best RPGs I've ever played. Legends added in bounties, which I actually wish there were more of. Of course, the graphics and sound were worse (as seems to be the case with all DC ports), but it was still fun as Hell.

A SoA for the Wii would be awesome.

Name some others, preferably that don't already have sequels (or thousands of iterations).

Vietnamese Crippler 03-30-2008 02:59 PM

Just looking at my game collection, Eternal Darkness comes to mind.

Kane Knight 03-30-2008 03:10 PM

Wasn't there a planned ED sequel? I don't know if it got scrapped or was just a rumour, though.

Vietnamese Crippler 03-30-2008 03:48 PM

I believe it was just rumors after all. Or at the very least, the rumored project turned out to be Too Human or something.

Kenny 03-30-2008 04:26 PM

Sonic the Hedgehog

Kane Knight 03-30-2008 05:10 PM

Also, Zombies Ate My Neighbors was mentioned a while back. A sequel would kick ass.

Yes

El Fangel 03-30-2008 05:35 PM

It would be lovely to see a Final Fantasy Tactics 2

Ninti the Mad 03-30-2008 05:46 PM

I want a true FF7 sequel. I still love the shit outta that game.

It'd be interesting to see a game involving a lot of past FF characters whether they be good, evil or neutral.

I actually liked SaGa Frontier except for a few things here and there and I wish they would have made the games that came after it into a SaGa clone with major tweaks here and there to make it better but they didn't.

God yes.

I've always said Legend of Dragoon needed a sequel.

I have no choice but to agree with you. Of course, I'd like to see an updated engine. Imagine a free-roam engine like that of GTA or Mercenaries, with a day-by-day mission of saving so many citizens and destroying so many zombies. That 3D atmosphere would make the concept of drinking the "monster potion" and busting through walls a ton of fun.

D Mac 03-30-2008 06:55 PM

The Darkness

U-Warrior 03-30-2008 07:06 PM

Psi-ops, for the love of god.

The game even had a "to be continued" ending. Never mind that it was fun as all hell.

Could do without those ghost things from the temple level tho.

Dorkchop 03-30-2008 07:36 PM

Shadow of the Colossus would be nice. I'm sure it'll happen.

I could not remember the name of that game for the life of me.

OssMan 03-31-2008 12:06 AM

I was gonna says Shadow of the Colossus too but I think a movie of the original would be better than a sequel.

Better visuals and bigger colossi? Imagine that on a PS3?

mitchables 03-31-2008 12:33 AM

Grim Fandango
Beyond Good and Evil
Vampire: The Masquerade

Mmm.

Skippord 03-31-2008 06:40 AM

Mega Man

Did you say...bigger? Somehow this thought hadn't crossed my mind...

There's been more than one V:TM, for the record. Which one are you talking about?

Y2Ant 03-31-2008 04:05 PM

Monkey Island
Diablo II
Streets of Rage
Road Rash
Double Dragon
Banjo-Kazooie
Blast Corps
Diddy Kong Racing
Fighter's Destiny
Goldeneye
Wave Race
Another World
Contra
Flashback
Killer Instinct
Mario Paint
Secret of Mana
Smash TV

I know most of these have sequels, and in some cases multiple sequels, but any of those games getting a sequel or another one would make me wet myself.

Indifferent Clox 03-31-2008 05:03 PM

Earth Fucking Bound

Kane Knight 03-31-2008 05:10 PM

Earthbound is a sequel and has a sequel.

Agree whole-heartedly that game was incredible.

Porcupine 03-31-2008 05:49 PM

Baldurs Gate II and Diablo II need sequels...

I dont think Baldurs Gate II is gonna happen and Diablo III will prolly be a MMORPG which will suck.

Mister Sinister 04-01-2008 07:13 AM

Still have my fingers crossed for a Parasite Eve III

super mario should get a sequal. i have a feeling he has a big future

Lord-Of-Darkness 04-01-2008 06:53 PM

I agree with Mitch, I'd love to see another Grim Fandango. I'd also like to see another Discworld game, in the same style as Noir(gameplay wise).

Also, Y2Ant, I'd love to see another Monkey Island as well, but KK said something that didn't have sequels already, and there are like 4.

Just saying...

Crazy Nick 04-01-2008 07:00 PM

I think there should be a Shenmue III, but I highly doubt it will be made in the near future, or be made period.

Lord-Of-Darkness 04-01-2008 07:01 PM

There were supposed to be 7 in the series originally or something, if I remember rightly?

You'd think the 4 or so other "hey i'm gonna try to be funny" posts like this would have been sufficient.
