So watching ECW from last night, an ad comes on advertising the live events coming up here in the UK. The Cardiff show (which is the capital of WALES) was listed as Cardiff, England. :rant:

Isn't Wales, you know, part of England? Kind of like how Princess Diana was Princess of Wales but in the British family...

Alright, I think I understand the complaint. Still, a pretty dumb reason to get pissed. It's like somewhere in between WWE promoting a show in Detroit USA and Detroit Washington DC as opposed to Detroit MI.

Yeah, Wales is part of the U.K only, not England.

I'd be pretty annoyed to be fair.

But the Welsh are really proud of their independence and stuff. Like they are their own country and that, I guess it'd be more like a British-based wrestling promotion for example, saying that they were running a show in 'Toronto, USA' or something.

I think all the countries in the UK should have a massive war with each other for a couple of years and then hug it out and have tea and biscuits and haggis or whatever.

The point is, Wales is not in England. If it said Cardiff, UK I wouldn't be so annoyed. If you lived here you'd understand the differences between England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Each pride themselves on their own individual status (well maybe not so much N.Ire haha, who sing God Save the Queen at their sports games :p) but yeah it's the same sort of outrage as if they said Toronto, USA. Great Britain/United Kingdom isn't just another name for England.

Funniest thing about this is, if Cardiff win the English Football/Soccer FA Cup on Sunday, they'll represent England in European Football tournaments next year.

Something they've no doubt always wanted to do......:naughty:

And surely they've done enough shows here by now to know we are not England. Every time they come here the faces cut a promo slagging off England just so they get huge pops.

Well I wouldn't be so annoyed because that is technically correct, we are in the UK. But we are not England. Nothing to do with England. Don't see why that is so hard to grasp :?:

He's presenting that map to us as fact. All the colors represent a different "country". Going by that map, London is its own country. Also, Jersey is apparently Jersey, London. Or possibly the other capitol, since it's the same color of London.

But we all know its not, so that completely invalidates that example.

London is the capitol.

If you look on the map, it's a picture for selecting a region. London obviously has enough population to warrant it's own region to select. I could go get another picture for you if I really must but I'm sure you get the idea and are simply just trying to be awkward.

Hey it doesn't bother me much that we are ruled by England and shit. It's just a basic fact, Cardiff is the capital of Wales. And for WWE to show their ignorance so blatantly like that is pretty insulting. They try and portray themselves as a worldwide phenomenon well they could atleast get their basic world geography right first.

Can hardly blame them for thinking that since cardiff want to take part in english football leagues/cups..maybe you should've thought of this before.

Yup, WWE are passionate followers of football/soccer, and the FA Cup, and will watch the final with avid interest tomorrow.

In all honesty, I much prefer American sports to ours. As you can probably gather from my avatar. Hate basketball though eww.

I only enjoy 'soccer' at the end of the season with the cup finals and play offs and stuff, when the games actually get competitive. Don't care for it the rest of the year though.

Rugby rules though.
