Dark Match: - Paul London defeated Charlie Haas - London comes out with a new haircut. He got the win after hitting a shooting star press. - Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler make their way out to ringside. Saturday Night's Main Event: (Airing This Saturday) - CM Punk comes out to a huge pop with the title belt around his waist as he joins Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross. - JBL, Cody Rhodes, Kane, and Ted DiBiase Jr. defeated John Cena, Cryme Tyme, and Batista. JBL got the win after pinning JTG. - Khali defeated Jimmy Wang Yang in a quick squash. - Jenny McCarthy's on her way to the ring. She's just asking fans to give to the fight against Autism. - Edge defeated Jeff Hardy after MVP hit Hardy behind the ref's back - Edge then hit a Spear for the win. |
To me, the two most interesting things about this was Paul London using the London Calling (best Shooting Star Press in the business, in my opinion), and CM Punk doing commentary (which will be awesome).
Would it have been too much to ask to give Kane the pin over JTG? I understand they are having Kane soak up punishment before he goes back to the mask, but Kane is going to need a little steam, and if you're putting the heels over, you might as well give the fall to the guy who needs it the most. The Great Khali going over Jimmy Wang Yang made sense. Yang failed a wellness test, so him taking a fall is reasonable, and the WWE Title match is only one of three matches confirmed for Summerslam, and Triple H couldn't be there to promote it. The main event raises some questions. Why this match? I would have preferred The Hardy Boyz vs. Edge & MVP. Vickie is not a fan of either Edge or MVP at the moment, so putting them against one of the greatest tag teams of all-time would have made sense. Matt could have gotten the pin on Edge to look good heading into Summerslam where he challenges for the ECW Title, and the gongs could have gone off on Edge to promote Hell in a Cell. Mark Henry could have attacked Matt Hardy after the match, and Jeff Hardy and MVP could brawl to build to the feud I guess the WWE wants them to have. Or, so that there would be a "big star" on the show, the WWE could have just gone with a six-man tag, and put The Undertaker and The Hardys over Mark Henry, Edge and MVP. If the WWE needed a singles match, Chris Jericho could have jobbed to CM Punk in a World Heavyweight Title match with Shawn Michaels attacking after the match, creating interest there. I mean, better that than the Jenny McCarthy shit. |
Not to be the voice of logic but you couldnt have had Jericho and CM Punk with Michaels interfering because that would have ruined the whole "HBK appears live VIA satellite" next week on RAW

So did Autism no show in the match against Jenny McCarthy?
Well it didn't no-show her son............... and yes, I'm going to hell for that.
Sounds really shit tbh, shouldn't there be a few more matches??
Nope, it's an hour long.
Wow, not worth watching then.
A second episode of ECW this week? Darn.
Punk on commentary could be pretty good.
This looks really "meh". Sounds like Heat with a RAW and SmackDown! rewind...

What are you talking about? God was there. He was just never tagged in. Michaels had to carry him.
I truely hope they don't go back to these pointless matches on raw/sd aswell now a Gm is in charge..i wont bother watching then.

Why does WWE seem to just throw away SNME every time? It's prime time, Saturday Night, on NBC... with that kind of exposure, you'd think they would pull out all the stops, trying to attract people to the product. I really don't get why they just kinda say "fuck it".

I don't think we'll be hearing things like 'He slammed him on his fucking face!' from this bit of Punk commentary
