400 wrestling tapes right in the bin

Yep that's right. Binned! I kept about 25 purely because they'd be hard to get online or on DVD at some point later but nobody took them and I needed the space so my childhood and nearly every penny I had from 15 to 21 went out the window.

Got about 500 copies of the Wrestling Observer newsletter and Powerslam 1-100 left. The Powerslam mags are next on the chopping board.

RIP - Rob's wrestling tape collection. 1989 - 2008.

Destor 07-29-2008 07:01 PM

That's out right depressing Rob.

Rob 07-29-2008 07:06 PM

It surprisingly didn't feel depressing binning them. I did it quick so I wouldn't think about it later. Some of the shows I knew I was binning like say Wrestlemania 10 I was thinking they were bad ass but I can always see the good stuff later.

Speaking of which, I need to download the Bret vs. Owen match pronto.

Londoner 07-29-2008 07:07 PM

I agree with destor.

PapaGeorgio 07-29-2008 07:51 PM

Should have sold em on eBay, would have got mad money like jim kramer.

ron the dial 07-29-2008 08:02 PM

I was thinking the same thing..

Just ask like $500 for the lot of them and see what happens..

thedamndest 07-29-2008 08:23 PM

Do people buy VHS still? I've got some, maybe I will put them on eBay.

Kris P Lettus 07-29-2008 08:28 PM

Wouldn't hurt to try..

thedamndest 07-29-2008 09:51 PM

Does anybody here want to buy the Wrestlemania 1-14 on VHS box set? Eh? EH??? Summerslam '98? Royal Rumble '98?

Funky Fly 07-29-2008 11:54 PM

Yeah, def coulda sold them. Or if you had one of those VHS to DVD things, you could have transferred them over. Probably would be costly, unless you transfer them over and then sell the tapes.

Rob 07-30-2008 03:46 PM

I needed the room and dont have the cash to transfer them over to DVD and the quality would probably suffer more doing so.

Fuck it, it's done now anyway. I also didn't expect anyone would wanna buy VHS and didn't want to fuck about with ebay for next to no money.

NeanderCarl 07-30-2008 05:52 PM

What a senseless waste. Why not just keep them?? Surely you could just throw them in the attic.

I'd buy the Power Slams off you, but I got them all. I'd buy any of its predecessor Superstars Of Wrestling if you got any...

Rob 07-30-2008 06:43 PM

I got a few I think. I had all of them from issue 4 I think but some of gone missing.

Oh and the tapes were at my mums since I moved out. She don't have the room and neither do I really. I ain't got an attic in my place.

Londoner 07-30-2008 06:45 PM

I would've brought some off you if i had some money to spare, didn't though unfortunately.

Rob 07-30-2008 07:04 PM

If someone would have come and got them, they could have had them for free.

The Mackem 07-30-2008 07:05 PM

What about Harvey's History of Wrestling Museum?

The horse has bolted now.

Let me know what SOWs you got then, could make it worth your while....

NeanderCarl 07-30-2008 09:42 PM

Not in a sexual way.

Fox 07-30-2008 11:48 PM

I would never dream of doing such a thing.

You know they fuck with the audio on the DVD's, right? You don't get to hear "You Suck Dick!" chants on One Night Stand II on the DVD. But it's crystal clear on my VHS.

That's like when Grandma threw away her old Beatles records because they were "going out of style." Fucking stupid ass move, Grandma.

Rammsteinmad 07-31-2008 07:54 AM

Wrestling Videos still sell pretty good on Ebay. Most people expect to generally pay less for a video than for DVDs, but when it's old wrestling shows IE Wrestlemania 10 they may prefer to spend maybe $1 for a video than $15 for a DVD (or whatever it costs in America).

You seriously coulda made a fairly decent ammount from them (I'm assuming you had a lot). Also issues 1-100 of Powerslam, chuck 'em on Ebay for $30 and see what happens. Or send them to my home address, which is preferable.

You could have made some good money with those tapes. You will be in my prayers tonight. :(

I just re-read this. Kinda sad innit but oh well. Haven't watched a wrestling show fully since. Found out my cousin stole my Bret Hart DVD and Mania 17. I'm gonna kill that little cunt.
