Vista or XP

I am not able to decide guys...should I stick to Vista or go back to XP. Basically I use my computer to surf the net, college work (visual basic, c, c++ and shit), games (counter strike, gta, nfs etc) and movies. So which operating system is better for my needs. I have 2 GB Ram, Intel Core 2 Duo and Intel Centrino platform.

Why do you ask?

Are you having problems with Vista? If not and it suits your requirements, why change?

Personally, I love XP and until it no longer suits my requirements I have no need to change. Change just for the sake of change is silly.

I use Vista on my desktop PC. XP on my Laptop. Would go to Vista on my laptop if I had a spare Ultimate License.

Look at it this way, I've been using PCs since I was a kid, have been working in IT for 10 years. And Vista is the first OS I've ever paid for. I've been running it since Beta 2, and love it. I also have tweaked it to how I like it, which makes it a hell of a lot nicer than out of the box.
Try it out, it's not exactly hard to go back, or run a dual boot.

While I agree with BC, I run XP purely because a lot of my the programs I use don't work on Vista, or are a fuckload faster to not justify running it on Vista.

I had Vista on it's own, then dual-booted and because I never used it I've removed the Vista partition and replaced it with a Ubunut one and never looked back.

Biggest problem I've had with Vista is some programs not being supported. Other than that, it's basically a spiffier version of XP.

And even with the compatibility issues, you can set programs to run like they would in 95, 98, 2000 and XP in their properties. Usually clears up any problems.

Yeah I cannot run Flash 8 on Vista. XP is faster than Vista and the game play experience is better. Although XP is not as secure as Vista.

Weird. Flash works fine for me.

It asks to reinstall it properly or check for solutions online.

Bad Company 10-02-2008 01:13 AM

remove it and reinstall then.

GD 10-02-2008 04:42 AM

I did. I think I will have to buy it.

Triple A 10-02-2008 10:20 AM

Vista is so much better.

GD 10-02-2008 11:24 AM

It's a visual delight IMO. You tend to get addicted to it.

Vista is fan.tas.tic

GD 10-21-2008 02:57 PM

Will I get more fps on Xp?

#BROKEN Hasney 10-21-2008 04:58 PM

Yeah, well I did anyways.

If you don;t have an XP lying around and don't mind a download, there's a Win XP SP3 Vista Style ISO floating around which has all the visual flair of Vista with the extra speed of Vista.

GD 10-21-2008 05:23 PM

I am just using Vista because it came with the puter. I have a XP Pro cd though.

I ran XP for about 5 years before I got a new computer with Vista. I've only had Vista for about a week now, but I'd easily choose it over XP any day.

Requiem 10-29-2008 06:03 AM

XP

Blue Demon 10-30-2008 04:42 PM

I'd say XP
