by Chris Gaubard and Arthur @ 2009-04-08 01:18:46

WWE Smackdown taping spoilers. Dark Match before ECW: MVP vs. Dolph Ziggler --- my buddy missed this but I would assume that MVP won.

SmackDown:

Matt <nobr style="font-weight: normal; font-size: 100%;" id="itxt_nobr_2_0">Hardyhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adT...lass_10x10.gif</nobr> demanded that he wanted the fans to forget about Jeff, not cheer him anymore, etc. so he challenged him to a stretcher match. Matt told Jeff that he owed the fans an apology for breaking his promise at Wrestlemania. The match was set up.

Gail Kim beat Michelle McCool.

Big Show beat Kofi Kingston via knock out punch.

Recap of Santina from Raw and then Santino came out and told the fans since he might get drafted to SD he wanted to wrestle any challenger. Out comes Khali. Runjin Singh told him that he could get out of the match, since Khali thinks Santina is hot, by getting Santina to do the kiss cam, but Santino said no and went down in one move.

Awesome Cutting Edge with Edge and John Cena where Cena summed up their relationship over the past few years and said that they are going to go too far at some point. Edge said, "No, I hate you and you took my title which is all I care about." He stated that it makes his problems go away. This further set up their Last Man Standing match at Backlash.

Priceless vs. Colons. Decent match but at the very end Priceless squashed the Colons and then Orton helped them finish wiping the floor with the Colons. Orton then cut a promo about the Backlash match. My friend went to get dippin' dots during this promo, Ha!.

Matt beat Jeff in the stretcher match. Jeff did a swanton onto the stretcher but missed. Matt hit him with a chair and then wheeled him out. Good match.

Teddy Long ran the show as promised on ECW.

Dark match: Cena beat Edge in what was announced as a World Title match.

Overall my buddy was happy with the show.

I hope Long gets drafted back to SD! ECW is the "C" show right now, and I think it can do well enough without a GM...I mean think about it, if they really wanted to put the E in ECW, why not have it go G.M.-less?

The New ECW®- Get The ‘E’ In!™<O:p</O:p

woo Priceless

McLegend 04-09-2009 06:21 PM

So apparently Grisham is the new play by play guy on SD, while JR now does color.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

They need to find somebody before WrestleMania XXVI. I can't picture Todd Grisham announcing WrestleMania, but then again I didn't picture Coach doing it either and he did WrestleMania XXIV.

Mr. Nerfect 04-10-2009 10:06 PM

Jim Ross moving into a colour commentary position is actually rather interesting. For years I've had the thought that JR actually adds more analysis to a match than actual play-by-play. He knows a lot about each wrestler's background, and can apply that to calling a match. Todd Grisham will also benefit by working with JR, although it does seem like a weird mismatch.

Hopefully this leads to JR becoming more observed with his commentary. For example: Play-by-play JR would probably just be like "BAH GAWD!" when Jeff Hardy takes an epic risk but misses his target, which costs him the match. Nowadays, I think JR should be a little more condemning of such behaviour, and be more critical of a guy like Jeff Hardy for not taking calculated risks. Not a heel JR, just more of that wrestling man's wrestling fan we see in his blogs.

Mr. Nerfect 04-10-2009 10:07 PM

The brand split is pretty much non-existent for this edition of SmackDown!, for some reason. It's not a big deal, but it's sort of bizarre that Kofi Kingston and Santino Marella can find places on SmackDown!, but MVP and Shelton Benjamin can't.

Triple Naitch 04-10-2009 10:23 PM

I think this was just WWE's way of showing us that anything is possible with the WWE Draft. Even Santino Marella challenging The Great Khali.

Mr. Nerfect 04-11-2009 04:43 AM

Perhaps, but the draft itself might actually be a good way to do that.

Mr. Nerfect 04-11-2009 04:45 AM

I'm going to be honest -- with JR moving to the colour commentary position, I'd rather see him work with Josh Mathews than Todd Grisham. I like The Grish more than I used to, but I like him with Matt Striker. Mathews would at least bring some in-ring experience to the table for the SmackDown! team, even if he would technically be the play-by-play guy.

RGWhat316 04-11-2009 06:01 PM

Didnt even get to see the first half hour of the show due to Detroits network being frozen. It finally came on when Santino was entering.

Gertner 04-11-2009 07:22 PM

Solid show last night.

Theo Dious 04-11-2009 07:46 PM

I imagine JBL will take over once he heals from whatever is wrong with him.

Johnny Vegas 04-11-2009 08:49 PM

That Edge/Cena promo was platinum.

Savio 04-11-2009 10:32 PM

I liked how Matt kick the strecher down the ramp at the end....it would have been cool if it crashed

Mr. Nerfect 04-12-2009 12:50 AM

I'm relatively surprised at how the WWE is booking Matt vs. Jeff Hardy. I was fearful that the WWE would just give the win at WrestleMania to Jeff Hardy, because he's the face and the one that moves more merchandise. It's refreshing that the WWE have done something that will ultimately make both men better off, and booked Matt to go over strong in the matches, but because Jeff Hardy does something stupid and fucks it up for himself.

Matt looks smart for capitalising on Jeff's fuck-ups, and because he's actually consistently winning their matches against each other, and Jeff looks good because he has the match under his control, but pushes things too hard for the sake of revenge.

I'm actually thinking that WrestleMania 26 could be the year for Edge vs. Christian vs. Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy at the big stage, with either the WWE Title or World Heavyweight Championship (probably the later) on the line. I can see Triple H and Shawn Michaels being paired off against each other, and I see John Cena in a special attraction match instead of the title hunt come the Road to WrestleMania in 2010.

I agreed with most of your post, but just remembered I was thinking something similar to this, and fearing he would be the one to end Takers streak next year, ffs, hope not.

Truthfully, who has a better shot at Cena than ending the streak? Cena is a legit main event guy (so Taker can feel a certainty in dropping the streak to him), and he's still got so many years left in the business. Unless he leaves to do movies. :shifty:

But truthfully, I see the WWE giving Cena a break from title matches, and either trying to get him to face The Rock (as unlikely as it would be, but you know the WWE sees dollar signs there), Hulk Hogan or The Undertaker.

Just one year, though, I'd love to see John Cena with no major program booked, so he fills one of the slots in Money in the Bank.

Londoner 04-13-2009 09:59 AM

I wonder if Cena has lost at wrestlemania yet? I don't think he has.

owenbrown 04-13-2009 10:08 AM

Last year in the triple threat with him, Orton(as WWE champ) and Triple H... Orton retained.

Londoner 04-13-2009 10:13 AM

Ahh ok.
