I want a new 2d metroid
 

I've played each 2d metroid game like 5 times. Metroid Dread was apparently cancelled. This drought sucks more than Grey Sunshine.

Need to play like every Metroid. Got kinda far in the first Metroid Prime then dunno what happened. Also in Super Metroid I can never get past the part thats like right after you evacuate. I just run around for an hour

I have not even beat 1 level of a Metroid game. I should probably at least play the NES one(s).

They don't really have levels. Thats part of the appeal.

WHY

Because (according to a lovely little sales chart in one of the last EGM issues) other than Twilight Princess and Smash Bros Brawl, if it's not Wii fit or some Cooking Mama type shit, it sells like shit. Nintendo's all about 3D now so I don't think they'll invest in anything Metroid that doesn't have 'Prime' and FPS gameplay attached to it. Guess Fusion was the last 2D one.

I meant for the DS, tho, not the wii. They still churn out 2d megamans and castlevanias for the DS. Why the hell not a new metroid?

Because those are made by Capcom and Konami respectively? :wtf:

Also, the last 2D Metroid was Fusion on GBA. The DS got Prime Hunters, which was 3D.

Also, other than the ZX games, the 2D Mega Man games on DS are all crappy toyatic anime poo. Like Yugioh

Yeah, was def referencing DX. And yeah, I know nintendo doesn't makethose, but what I am saying is that there is still a market for 2d action games.

Because it won't sell. Mega Man and Castlevania aren't exactly hot shit right now, either, but they're profitable titles respective to the current titles those companies make and publish. Nintendo, on the other hand, has this huge cash machine in casual games, and so it's more cost effective to put out " Brain Age 4" or "Wario Ware grope" than it is to put out a Metroid title that is less likely to sell.

That cracked me up. But the thing is, the people who frequetly make those whiny, ranty arguments will fap for MGS. Or cream themselves over BRAID. The so-called "real" gamers often have a list of a dozen GOTY nominations by this time of year.

Besides, even in the " good old days," truly great games were few and far between.

The difference is that the crap is A LOT crappier and A LOT more than it was back in the NES to N64 era. Which make sense, because the majority of shovel ware today takes very little effort. It's basically "okay, program a few menus, implement some basic math and get some stock photos to make a box. Done."

I mean, seriously. The Wii's shitty hardware would have been a perfect excuse to unleash a new, thoroughly designed 2D Castlevania. Spend a chunk of your budget on making the graphics look god damn nice and the game god damn huge and the challenges god damn challenging--use your time to make it oldschool with modern sensibilities instead of pissing away your efforts on a fancy graphics engine like most game designers would. Make a 2D Castlevania for a console that feels like we remember it.

Wii should be used for that entirely. It's underpowered. Use that to its advantage. I don't want menu "games", I want games. I don't care if it's 2D or 3D, if the gameplay is good that's 90% of what matters.

For fucking real. Nippon Ichi is rereleasing Phantom Brave for the Wii this year, and I'm hoping it's them testing the waters. I mean, Disgaea 3 was for PS3--and it's god damn 2D sprites, why would you fucking do that? And the Wiimote practically begs for tactical RPGs. Guuuuys.

2D games. Wii. Do it. Do it bitches.

Yeah, playing through SOtN right now, and it's better than Circle of the Moon, or Harmony of Dissonance. Havn't played Aria of Sorrow or any of the DS ones. Do any of them give Symphony a run for it's money, or is it still the best Metroidvania ever?
