Favorite Disney Animated Classic

Because this might possibly be the ultimate film debate.

Please note this is the official Disney approved list of 48 Walt Disney Animated Classics and therefore does not include Pixar releases.

Supreme Olajuwon 06-08-2009 06:54 PM

Note the clear dropoff in quality in the mid to late 1940s. Walt must've been upset about something. Possibly about the outcome of some conflict. Maybe his side didn't win.

thedamndest 06-08-2009 06:54 PM

When I was a kid I liked Alice in Wonderland, The Jungle Book, and Aladdin the most. In recent years I have come to love The Emperor's New Groove. I will go with Aladdin. Are you making a poll of 48 options?

Supreme Olajuwon 06-08-2009 06:55 PM

That's not fair. All his staff got drafted to make propaganda films for the US war effort. I bet that really pissed him off.

Lord-Of-Darkness 06-08-2009 07:01 PM

Is the Lion King one of them? I always loved that. And Aladdin.

Zen v.W.o. 06-08-2009 07:05 PM

My top 3:

Beuaty and the beast
Aladdin
The Lion King

After those I have seen and enjoyed quite a few:

Sleeping Beauty
Cinderella
Lady and the tramp
Bambi
Dumbo
etc..

I am not a fan of the pixar films, except I did enjoy UP recently.

ClockShot 06-08-2009 09:29 PM

Classics to me are the works on pen and paper.

My all time favroite is Rescuers: Down Under.

Percival C. McLeach owns all Disney villians.

Juan 06-08-2009 09:34 PM

I love a lot of them, but I think my favorite would either have to be Robin Hood or the Jungle Book

road doggy dogg 06-08-2009 10:02 PM

Tough choice between Aladdin and Lion King for me. I gave LK the nod, mainly for the soundtrack.
crossrine

Gonzo 06-08-2009 10:07 PM

Jungle Book but I forgot about LK.

Jeritron 06-09-2009 03:07 AM

lol Lara Emily

Mine's Aladdin. Lion King runs second.
That's my generation.

Although, Jungle Book probably comes in third.

I didn't like any of the ones after Lion King, and at some point stopped seeing them.

My thoughts exactly. :y:

Hornicane 06-09-2009 04:54 AM

And also, fuck all those movies post '95.

Fignuts 06-09-2009 05:20 AM

wtf, come on people.

Lion King was way better than aladdin.

Boondock Saint 06-09-2009 05:34 AM

Oh god what a tough choice. Love Disney movies.

Toss up between Jungle Book and Sleeping Beauty...I'll go with Jungle Book.

Honorable mentions:
Sleeping Beauty
The Black Cauldron (underrated)
Aladdin
The Lion King
Beauty and the Beast
Emperor's New Groove
Alice in Wonderland

Jon Kano 06-09-2009 05:34 AM

Yeah, Lion King, easily

Lord-Of-Darkness 06-09-2009 06:43 AM

I also love Hercules. Not my favourite, but one of the top for me, for sure.

The Mackem 06-09-2009 09:30 AM

Out of the list, Robin Hood stood out for some reason.

LuigiD 06-09-2009 01:30 PM

Lion King for me.
Probably because it was the first movie I remember seeing at the movie theater. I also liked the story.

OssMan 06-09-2009 01:42 PM

Lion King. Can't believe I haven't seen Jungle Book though.

Aladdin might be the better video game though :shifty: both that and Lion King were good. Lion King had this beetles that would make a huge unnecessary explosion when you defeated them, only enemy in the game to do that I think.

The Gold Standard 06-09-2009 01:47 PM

Aladdin gets my vote. Even the sequels were good. Such a great movie and I like the songs too.

Hornicane 06-09-2009 10:56 PM

Just kind of went with an answer that I thought I liked when I originally posted. But upon actually thinking about the reasoning behind my choice, Lion King is my favourite of these, and I think that it's mostly due to the fact that Scar is probably the best villain featured in any of these movies. I mean, the canyon scene was so damn emotionally gripping for being an animated scene. That shit was legit intense.

"Long live the king." Such an evil badass.

Savio 06-09-2009 11:04 PM

This is hard I think Emperors new groove was the best one they made, but Aladdian and Lion King are great too. To close to call for me.

thecc 06-09-2009 11:23 PM

Lion King, followed by Aladdin and The Fox and the Hound.

DaveWadding 06-10-2009 03:38 AM

Lion King sucks ass.

ct2k 06-10-2009 04:13 AM

Jungle Book just pips Aladdin for me.

Also Little Mermaid is fantastic for Sebastian alone.

You're supposed to tell us which one is your favorite, not which one sucks. Come on Dave, you're slipping.

Skippord 06-10-2009 04:35 AM

Lion King

but I love Alice In Wonderland and The Emperors New Groove

The ones that arent about Mexicans...:shifty:

The Gold Standard 06-10-2009 09:32 PM

VOTE FOR ALADDIN!!

GreySunshine 06-10-2009 09:38 PM

The Little Mermaid. Hell, we still still sleep on Ariel bedsheets.

Alice In Wonderland, Hercules, and Cinderella would all be close behind.

UmbrellaCorporation 06-10-2009 09:43 PM

Hercules is my pick.

Beauty and the Beast is second, because....

No one hits like Gaston,
No one spits like Gaston,
etc, etc.

LaLa 06-10-2009 09:50 PM

My top three is:

The Lion King
Aladdin
Mulan

But I voted for Lion King because I love the songs.

thedamndest 06-10-2009 11:36 PM

Did you guys do the Disney Sing Along Songs? I kept getting these from the library like every weekend. I loved the one that had "A Pirate's Life for Me" except I think I was afraid of the pirates, so it was a masochist relationship of sorts.

Land Before Time ftw

thedamndest 06-11-2009 12:30 AM

One of these things doesn't belong.

I figure you'd like Mulan for the inherent irony.

OssMan 06-11-2009 01:30 AM

This thread actually made me go and watch The Rescuers Down Under again. Haven't watched it in so long. Actually I got like halfway and then I feel asleep. I have been meaning to watch it anyway.

Savio 06-11-2009 12:42 PM

So was the Rescuers Down Under the only official theater squeal than?

Anybody Thrilla 06-11-2009 01:58 PM

It was between Aladdin and The Lion King for me, but Robin Williams > Jonathon Taylor Thomas, so there ya go.
