Futurama Back In Production

Have you grown tired of bad TV news? And by bad TV news, I mean bad news about television shows. Bad "TV news" is redundant.

Well, get ready for some good news. No wait, get ready for some great news. No, great doesn't really describe it. Here is some grantasticularly wondergasmiclicious news! (And my 12th grade English teacher said I'd never amount to anything as a writer.)

Comedy Central has ordered all brand new episodes of Futurama, and the show has officially gone back into production.

An insider told Collider.com that the network has given the series an order for 13 additional episodes to air now that the network has run through all of the series' original episodes and the four full-length DVD movies. This news has sparked rumors that production has officially started again on the series and casting is underway.

It's not just good news for Futurama fans, even though the fans are slipping into grinning comas and twitching with joy over the news. And who can blame them? It's one of the few comedy series that just seems to get better and better the longer its run gets. It's the bizarro According to Jim.

It's also good news to every show that has been cancelled before its time. Matt Groening, David X. Cohen and company have proved that no show can truly die just because a single-minded network doesn't have the patience to let it develop and expand. Their dedication to the show and its fans is truly astounding, and if new episodes do make it to Comedy Central's doorstep, disappointed fanboys across the universe will have one less thing in life to be disappointed about.

road doggy dogg 06-09-2009 04:39 PM

AWESOMEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

I'm worried about one thing though. "Casting is underway" ? They're not using the same cast? I'm unfamiliar with showbiz lingo. Please calm my concerns.

gertner, if you are serious then you are pretty much my least favorite person in the entire world right now

Juan 06-09-2009 04:47 PM

This is great news.

GreySunshine 06-09-2009 04:56 PM

Requiem 06-09-2009 05:00 PM

Then you are pretty much my least favorite person in the entire world right now. Futurama is one of the best animated shows ever created.

Gertner 06-09-2009 05:07 PM

Do you play Game Cube, wear Abercombie golf shirts and listen to Dave Matthews Band too?

Cause the same fags who like Futurama are the same fags who do all those things.

road doggy dogg 06-09-2009 05:09 PM

I don't do any of those things at all. What kinds of shows do you enjoy?
crossrine

Gertner 06-09-2009 05:11 PM

CSI, Intervention, King of the Hill(WAAAAAY better than Futurama), Without a Trace, Cold Case. Lots of sports shows.

road doggy dogg 06-09-2009 05:13 PM

I enjoy King of the Hill, but I don't find it funnier than Futurama at all. I don't get what you hate about it. Is it because it's nerdy? If so, that's understandable, but just say that.

I do none of those things. What do any of those things have to do with the show Futurama? I get what you're trying to imply, but you could at least make better generalizations about people who watch the show.

I actually kind of feel bad for you, knowing how much your sense of humor must suck if you can't find Futurama to be an enjoyable experience.

Gertner 06-09-2009 05:15 PM

The only people who I've noticed who find Futurama funny are the better fucking losers on the planet.

btw, I'm going through horrible nicotine withdrawls right now, so i'll probably apologize later for this.

until then FUTURAMA IS THE BIGGEST OVER_RATED PIECE OF SHIT SHOW ON TV!

lol, yeah I know. I mean, who would think that a silent gif of one of those new fangled "talkie" cartoons that fans may find funny is an entire representation of the show.

It pretty much is. I've watched Futurama numerous times.

Requiem 06-09-2009 05:24 PM

That is the stupidest generalization I have ever heard. Shows like Futurama, Simpsons, King of the Hill, Family Guy.. etc.. they all target the SAME demographic. The fact that you're insulting people who watch Futurama is laughable, because those same people probably watch King of the Hill too. What does that say about you if you and a bunch of douchebags find the same thing to be funny?

Gertner 06-09-2009 05:25 PM

Futurama is nerd comedy. It's a niche audience. King of the Hill, Simpsons and Family Guy, totally different.

Requiem 06-09-2009 05:27 PM

What? Not at all. How is it a nerd comedy? Because it's sci-fi instead of present day? Since when do you have to be a nerd to enjoy sci-fi?

Edit: No.. just no, I mean come on you are reaching here. The style of comedy used in Futurama is no different than the other shows.

Supreme Olajuwon 06-09-2009 05:28 PM

Pretty happy to hear this but...

NO. The movies weren't that great.

Requiem 06-09-2009 05:30 PM

AND.. that still doesn't change the fact that the people who watch Futurama also watch those other shows.. so making a generalization about the type of people who watch it is still stupid.

#BROKEN Hasney 06-09-2009 05:31 PM

I enjoyed 3 of the films, only really hated The Beast With A Billion Backs but even that had it's moments.

Oh, and the ending to Into The Wild Green Yonder, they just felt they had to do that in case it was the last episode and it kinda felt forced.

Gertner 06-09-2009 05:31 PM

It's a really horrible show. and i know lots of people who watch simpsons, family guy and don't watch futurama, cause well it's awful.

Supreme Olajuwon 06-09-2009 05:32 PM

Gertner, you like techno music and glow sticks. Your taste is awful.

Requiem 06-09-2009 05:33 PM

and i know plenty of people who watch all of these shows and still don't fit the stereotype you created from thin air

this kind of logic works on both sides

Supreme Olajuwon 06-09-2009 05:33 PM

And you watch the Hills and American Idol, too. You have no taste. Shut the fuck up.

Tornado 06-09-2009 05:40 PM

You know that bit when Fry discovers he has Billions of dollars in his bank account and passes out?

Thats me right now.

Requiem 06-09-2009 05:40 PM

All of those things are horribly douchey.

Supreme Olajuwon 06-09-2009 05:47 PM

Family Guy has recurring bits about musicals and barbershop quartets. You don't consider that nerdy?

Gertner 06-09-2009 05:50 PM

It's at least funny.

Bad Company 06-09-2009 05:52 PM

Futurama is the GREATEST.

Bad Company 06-09-2009 05:52 PM

Family guy is not better than Futurama, nor is it funnier.
