BioWare games. KOTOR 1 and 2 comes to mind.

Kane Knight 07-15-2009 11:27 PM

Sure. D&D.

Indifferent Clox 07-15-2009 11:29 PM

I mean ones you play without a g m, KK. and ones that are pen and paper, KT.

But thanks

Kalyx triaD 07-15-2009 11:29 PM

What I dunno, there are dungeons and dragon games on a bunch of early systems

parkmania 07-15-2009 11:49 PM

Not pen and paper, but there is a series of trading card-esque games out there called "Dungeoneer" packs that supposedly have a single-player mode as well as a mode where a DM runs the deck.

Seriously, you can do it without a GM.

Indifferent Clox 07-16-2009 01:42 AM

Really? what do you do exactly?
Because I have some Core rulebooks and such but I wouldn't know how to play without a gm unless i suppose i got some adventurers packs...

how do you no gm way of playing?

Kane Knight 07-16-2009 10:00 AM

the simple way (D&D 3.X) requires little more than the random encounter tables and random "dungeon builder" rules expressed in the DMG. You may have (or want) to change up the tables or make your own, but it becomes an instance of altering what's the to taste.

I don't know why one would do it, to be honest. but it can be done.

This is not exactly what you're looking for (in terms of using a pen and paper in traditional D&D style), but I can tell you the game that is the best replication of D&D (2nd edition) rules.

Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn and the Throne of Bhall expansion. You can usually get them together on Amazon.com/etc.

It follows the rules to a T in almost all instances. Beyond that, it is absolutely epic in scale. You'll be playing for months and never getting bored. It's entirely possible that you've played this in the past, but if not, consider this a high recommendation for the best D&D-themed RPG I've ever played. Possibly the best RPG period.

You can go to any online bookstore and search for Fighting Fantasy, there's so many that you could find some really cheap.

Also search for Golden Dragon Gamebooks those are pretty cool.

Indifferent Clox 07-16-2009 11:07 PM

lol yeah this is the geekiest question ever asked.

My gf is working thirds so i'm stuck here because my mom doesn't know i drive the truck without my glasses. It's a web of lies and deciet that end in me going on dark adventures with elves who only exist in my mind and the forgotten realms.

okay?
