Walking Tall - Rock totals a $100,000 Porsche

The Rock Involved In Car Accident; & More

The following is from FOX23 in Albany, NY:
The Rock wrecked a $100,000 Porsche car in new movie Walking Tall when he went too far in a scene.

The former wrestler, real name Dwayne Johnson, didn't realize he was only supposed to make it look like he was whacking the luxury sports car with a plank of wood - and set about destroying the vehicle.

He says, "When I smashed the Porsche it was one of those things where the director yelled, "I don't think you're supposed to smash the Porsche."

I was looking at it and the Porsche was just wrecked. I said "Did we just buy this?" and he was like, "That's affirmative."

At least the $100,000 didn't come out of my salary.

Former wrestler? That's a stretch for someone who just wrestled on March 14.

But Rock- Porsche incident = :D

LOL, what a dumbass. Funny though.

Hired Hitman 04-03-2004 08:09 AM

I guess he was too caught-up in the character... :shifty:

Goldbird 04-03-2004 08:15 AM

*makes the movie more realistic*

CanAmConnection 04-03-2004 11:56 AM

That is a sweet car. Movie wasn't bad. As long as you don't expect a ton and only pay for a matinee, it's definately an enjoyable 1.5 hous.

Or he just likes breaking stuff. :D

SeanMC 04-04-2004 04:46 PM

I found the former wrestler thing odd also. lol@the incident though.

When The Rock smashes out the taillight on the Porsche, it was a mistake - he wasn't actually supposed to do that to the real car which was on loan to the set. After smashing it in, the director and crew were completely silent. The Rock said, "I wasn't supposed to do that, was I?"...silence..."Did we just buy this car?" There was a slight pause as the director checked with someone on the set... "Yes."

I heard about this a few weeks ago...He was on some talk show and they showed that clip...The Rock didnt "total" the car He broke a tail light out.

Kane Knight 04-04-2004 05:53 PM

Bet the insurance company listed it as totalled anyways.

Mr. JL 04-04-2004 06:27 PM

If you've seen one Rock movie, you've seen them all.

The Ravishing One 04-04-2004 07:21 PM

*reps rockbottom just for having a cool name*

Shaggy 04-04-2004 08:39 PM

It looked good in the movie. Probably would of looked like crap if he didnt do it realistic.

Corkscrewed 04-05-2004 02:23 AM

No it definitely didn't.

I love how The Rock is always refferred to as a "former wrestler" by the media.

I think the term "part-time wrestler" is more appropriate.

In that case, The Passion Of The Christ is the HHH of movies.

Kane Knight 04-05-2004 08:53 PM

Well, that's only because it's been out (i believe) the longest out of those movies.

It "only" did about 10 Million this last weekend, as opposed to 23.5 mil by Hellboy.

However, it's also been running for several weeks, so we'll have to see how Hellboy and Walking Tall draw over the next couple.

Personally, I don't think it's the Triple H of movies...More like the Hogan...You know, only on the list because it's been there for a while. ;)

CANADIAN 04-07-2004 07:58 PM

Walking Tall was excellent.. But short.

The CyNick 04-07-2004 08:01 PM

All the media people were saying Hellboy was going to be #1 and it was. Hellboy had a better trailer and its a movie kids/teens are going to drawn to, plus I think ti was based on a comic book, which seems to do well these days.

Nobody expected Walking Tall to do huge business. This is all a set up for Spy Hunter. I think if that fails Rock might lose some of his shine, but thats not till next year, so.
