So if you were the new head booker for TNA Wrestling...

Say it happens, Jeff get bought out. Dixie Carter fire all his nut suckers and hires you by your amazing TPWW genius reputation for fantasy booking and you are now the head booker. What do you do? Everyone complains about TNA but rarely can offer great ideas that could be executed instead of the shitty product they offer.

Now I don't often watch TNA, I catch certain matches that intrest me on youtube. I do however read the results and reviews and it seems like a lot of really bad TV for the most part. How is that possible? They have a roster with so much potential, so many guys that could carry pro wrestling into the next phase but are simply not being driven by an original and creative CREATIVE TEAM.

So what would you do to make it work?

The Jayman 08-06-2009 02:10 PM

make Deaner world champion

The Jayman 08-06-2009 02:15 PM

no seriously I would push more of the young guys. TNA has great young talent but they just need to be pushed more into the spotlight. The biggest issue I have with TNA is they keep the spotlight on guys that have been in it for 20+ years.

screech 08-06-2009 02:34 PM

Give more time to the wrestling on the program, and cut down (or cut out) the more ridiculous, irrelevant skits.

I have plenty more, but don't have the time right now.

Hanso Amore 08-06-2009 02:34 PM

Step One - Cut a hole in a box

Step 2 - ?

Step 3 - Profit

AJHayes 08-06-2009 02:34 PM

Interesting. I'll think about this and get back to you.

thedamndest 08-06-2009 02:41 PM

Burn the arena to the ground and collect the insurance money.

owenbrown 08-06-2009 02:54 PM

FourFifty 08-06-2009 03:12 PM

Sell out ASAP.

RatedGSuperstar 08-06-2009 03:16 PM

1. Sell the contracts of The Beautiful People to Vivid Entertainment.
2. Stop hiring people WWE future endeavored unless they can actually work.
3. Make Scott Steiner the full-time ring announcer.
4. Stop kayfabe firing people in storylines for no reason.
5. Get better cooler karts for Beer Money.

Anybody Thrilla 08-06-2009 04:16 PM

All Velvet Sky, all the time.

screech 08-06-2009 05:59 PM

Of course, I'd re-hire Shelly Martinez and make her champion.

Chavo Classic 08-06-2009 06:42 PM

Put the X-Division at the top of the card. The only way they're going to topple the WWE is by doing something different and the X-Division is it, it always has been it.

End this ridiculous MEM thing, because it's just become a parody of TNA that every seems to find hilariously ironic except for TNA themselves. Stop signing cast-offs from the WWE, and put more women's wrestling on. Re-hire Gail Kim dammit!

Basically, everything everyone has said already in this thread, and is likely to say.

The Show Off 08-06-2009 07:48 PM

Mind you I actually like TNA Wrestling. I watch it every week and I personally like it better than Raw, but it has a lot of flaws. By no means do I think it's perfect, but I enjoy it. That being said I have a few ideas...

1. The Announce Team: We all don't like Don West and Mike Tenay, but the saddest thing is Tenay is now the inferior announcer at the moment, West has gotten better. However, the first thing I'd do is give the both of them their walking papers. What I'd do then is make the TNA announce team consist of Raven and Taz. You have Raven be the play by play guy and Taz be the color man. Then whenever their is a Main Even Mafia match have Kevin Nash be a guest color man, until the MEM storyline is over and then have Nash join Raven and Taz.

2. The Arena: I don't like the six sided ring but it's unique and it doesn't take away from the action now that guys are used to it so leave it for now. What I would do is eliminate the elaborate set designe (you're not as rich as WWE don't try to look like you are). Don't light the audience either, showing how small your audience is makes them look bush league. Just have main lights on the ring and the entrance ramp. The entrance ramp can have a big screen to see back stage stuff but nothing more than then... I thinking the look of Raw in 98.

3. The Help: I'm not a one man booking machine I'd hire some people who have good reputations in the buisness and good wrestling minds. I'd hire Paul Heyman to help book (or almost completely book because of his experience) and get Mick Foley to help out.

4. Ask the Wrestlers: Instead of forcing guys to do stupid gimmicks (ie Black Machismo, Cody Dener & Dr. Stevie) ask these guys what the want to portray, find something in their personality that makes them unique and intresting, and exploit that. Wrestlers will give you all they have if they feel like they have some input on the course of their destiny. Have long conversations with guys that seem to be doing nothing.

5. Renewed focus on the X-Division: TNA boasts an X-Division roster where if they're with it contains Abdul Bashir, Alex Shelley, Amazing Red, Chris Sabin, Consequences Creed, Eric Young, Homicide, Jay Lethal, Kiyoshi & Kaz, why these guys aren't facing eachother and making the X-Division pretegious is beyond me. I've been watching TNA pretty regular and I didn't even know until I checked their website that Homicide is their X-Division champion... That's a good start but him winning it should have been a big deal not something I, a regular view, completely missed.

6. No More God Damn Clusterfucks!: This is TNA's biggest problem. They have such a big roster for a small organization that they try and fit everyone in their PPV's and we wind up seeing gauntlets, and 10 man tags, and 10 way matches... blah. Stop 4 Way matches should be the max. And 10 man tags should only happen when a faction is facing a faction. If you can't find a story line for these guys why do you even have them? Which bring me to...

7. The Following People should be fired:
BG James
Bobby Lashley
Cody Dener
Don West
Jeff Jarrett (I like him but I don't need a power struggle)
Jenna Moraca
Jim Cornette (I like him but who needs 3 athurity figures?)
Jesse Neal
Kip James
Mike Tenay
Khaka Khan
Rob Terry
Scott Steiner
Shark Boy
Sojoner Bolt

8. The Following People Should be Hired:
(I'm barring people I know wouldn't go)
Kenny Anderson
Claudio Castignoli
Brian Kendrick
Paul London
The Briscoe Brothers (I'm not sure if they'd come)
Kevin Steen

9. The Following people Should be in the Main Event:
AJ Styles
Abyss
Booker T
Christopher Daniels
Kurt Angle
Matt Morgan
Robert Roode
Samoa Joe
Sting (for as long as he stays)
Claudio Castagnoli (w/ James Mitchell)

10. No More Legends, Only Television: The Legend's championship should be eliminated and replaced by the TNA Television Championship. The Television championship would serve as what the Intercontinental championship used to be... I'd have Kenny Anderson win the tournament to crown the first TNA Television Championship and have him slowly build in mid-card feuds to a World title run in a year or two, if he doesn't get injured.

11. A Few Quick Ideas:
--Have Christoper Daniels build a feud to a match with Mick Foley at Bound for Glory and go over big time.
--Give Booker T a long World Title reign when he loses to put a young guy over.
--Have Claudio Castagnoli come in as a scilent assassin type build him huge with James Mitchell as a mouthpiece.
--London & Kendrick vs. The Briscoe Brothers vs. Motor City Machine Guns in a Triangle Ladder Match...
--No more all cage match PPV.
--Have Samoa Joe's joining of the mafia turn into him trying to take over the Main Event Mafia as that was his master plan, to take from Angle what he loves most.
--From Angle being expelled from MEM have Angle go on a losing streak and have him at the bottom of the card putting over young guys like Eric Young, Homicide, James Storm, & Robert Roode early on in PPVs. Then slowly build Angle back up to the main event taking on more of a goofy persona again.
--Have Mick Foley be a fair athurity figure and have his athurity bring some realism to the broad cast...

That's all I have for now...

Shadow 08-07-2009 12:21 AM

Give Paul Heyman my job.

The Pope 08-07-2009 12:22 AM

Wait for the old guys to retire then Push Roode, Storm, Brits, MMG, Morgan, Joe, Styles, LAX

Skippord 08-07-2009 04:27 AM

have Christopher Daniels be called Christopher Daniels

and make him shave his weird mustache

Yeah Christopher Daniels being simply called Daniels bugs me also.

USAUSA1 08-07-2009 01:05 PM

Put the World and X title on AJ Styles. Build him as the greatest wrestler in the world and have wrestle and beat everyone on Impact every week for a year. Give him a Goldberg type push.Brand him as Paul Heyman would say.

The only reason why I would do that because AJ Styles always put on the best matches despite the opponent and length of the match. Sort of like Bret Hart from 92-95 or HBK in 96.

That would be my main goal.

Jordan 08-07-2009 01:28 PM

That would deffinatly cement him in the main event picture and make him a star, not a bad idea at all USAUSA1.

Mr. C 07-12-2010 04:42 PM

Eric Young has been in TNA for 8 years and still doesn’t add anything to the product and isn’t interesting. Let him go.

I’m hoping Magnus gets cut.

Jimmy Hart is useless to the product.

Mike Tenay is lifeless. Jim Ross, get to TNA fast.

Monty Brown needs to come back.

The TNA Women’s Tag Team Championship should be thrown away.

They need to reunite LAX and bring back Konnan as their manager. Maybe bring Carlito in?

BizarroKing 07-12-2010 04:54 PM

-Bring back Christopher Daniels and immediately put the World Title on him

-Have Nash retire

-Get rid of the Knockouts Tag titles and/or put some emphasis back into the Knockouts division

-Bring back emphasis into the X Division

-Have storylines that make sense and/or can be explained/have actual answers.

I don't think Hart is there anymore.. Agree on Tenay, Fuck Monty Brown.

First things first, put Homicide back on TV

The Pope 07-12-2010 04:59 PM

Make Jay Lethal and Joe main eventers.

Seriously though.

Step 1) Book Hogan, Nash, Steiner, Flair, Foley, Booker T, Angle, Hall, Waltman, Jarrett, Team 3D, Raven, Rhino, and Dreamer in a Retirement FFA Match. Last man standing gets to stay, everyone else MUST retire. Angle would obviously win.

Step 2) Get Dixie to hire Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas, and re-hire Daniels. (Even though he is still listed on their roster page?)

Step 3) Injury RVD, Jeff Hardy, and Abyss in kayfabe. Later play it out that one of the 16 men involved in the chase for the TNA title took them out.

Step 4) Run a 16 man tournament to determine the new TNA Champ. The participants would include: Robert Roode, James Storm, Jay Lethal, Desmond Wolfe, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Pope, Mr. Anderson, Shelton Benjamin, Charlie Haas, Christopher Daniels, Rob Terry, Shark Boy, Brian Kendrick, Hernandez, and Matt Morgan.

Step 5) Start a fued between Generation Me causing them to eventually fued over the X division title in an Ultimate X match.

2) = Good!
3). 4). 5) all suck

Swiss Ultimate 07-12-2010 05:33 PM

Hire the guy who makes Botchamania. Enact a Wellness policy. Continue the Kurt Angle angle, Keep pushing the MCMG, Jay Lethal, AJ Styles, RVD...etc.

Not all of TNA is actually that bad. And stuff that rubs me the wrong way work well with the fans of the product, like I am not enjoying the Ken Anderson promos at all but, they're getting a good response from people who buy t-shirts.

There's usually some gems in the debris of TNA.

tna is pretty great right now. Well Impact has been pretty great.

RiX1024 07-13-2010 02:45 PM

Hire Joey Styles on commentary
Put Raven on colour commentary
Push Mike Tenay to his expert analyst position like he was in WCW
Get rid of the Legends but keep Sting due to the guy's loyalty
Get rid of the Global championship coz it means jack shit.
Bring back the 6 sided ring.
Focus mainly on the X-Division
Hire Steve Blackman and push him or team up with the Paranoid version of Eric Young.
Make Rob Terry the new Batista.
tone down gimmick matches and concentrate on classic 1 on 1s and tag team.
