Better Movie #26 *Hall of Fame Round*

Those animated characters gave a good fight, even though Wee Gooner was being a pessimist, but Toy Story still couldn't derail the Goodfellas express.

Now it's Goodfellas' chance to reach Better Movie immortality. But it'll have to go through war to get there.

Polls are open for three days. Happy voting.

And as always, tell us why you voted the way you did. Don't be some little bitch boy hiding in the trenches or behind the barriers. You disgust me.

Hornicane 08-11-2009 02:13 AM

Saving Private Ryan. Love Tom Hanks and it's probably my favourite war movie ever.

Droford 08-11-2009 02:21 AM

Im not a huge fan of SPR, not really into war movies.

shadowfoxrz 08-11-2009 02:33 AM

Saving Private Ryan because it spawned the Val Venis porno....jk Every movie Tom Hanks is in is so unique, and this is my favorite one. :D

weather vane 08-11-2009 02:46 AM

Um Goodfellas by a fucking mile.

The Mackem 08-11-2009 06:51 AM

Expect Goodfellas to win this, I don't really see Saving Private Ryan as such a good film just it has a lot of hype behind it. Obviously thebattle scenes are intense and I generally overall like to watch WW2 films. Goodfellas, I've watched once and although I can see why people would like it, it's just not my type of film.

Tazz Dan 08-11-2009 07:21 AM

Still haven't watched Goodfellas, but the opening sequence of SPR is one of the greatest ever. :y:

Ogen 08-11-2009 08:43 AM

Big battle scenes never really impress me so Goodfellas all the way.

BDR 08-11-2009 11:14 AM

I cant vote for a movie that has vin diesel in it

thedamndest 08-11-2009 12:57 PM

That's Dieselism.

Supreme Olajuwon 08-11-2009 01:58 PM

Saving Private Ryan is notable to me for having one of the largest collections of talented actors who never became superstars ever assembled on film. And that goes especially for Barry Pepper. I thought that guy was destined for greatness. And then he winds up playing Dale Earnhardt in a made for tv movie on ESPN. Whoops.

DaveBrawl 08-11-2009 02:04 PM

Don't forget Roger Maris in 61. Barry Pepper plays greatness apparently.

Supreme Olajuwon 08-11-2009 02:16 PM

That tied into my thoughts that he was on the track to be big. He puts in great performances in Saving Private Ryan, 61, The Green Mile, and We Were Soldiers, but then for some god forsaken reason he does Battlefield Earth and Knockaround Guys. Come on Barry, have some standards.

Corporate CockSnogger 08-11-2009 02:17 PM

Saving Private Ryan. Actually only recently finally got round to seeing it and I instantly loved it. I'm not a big war film fan either really. Just a really good film.

Jon Kano 08-11-2009 02:52 PM

SPR, good film, but GF still way ahead

Supreme Olajuwon 08-11-2009 03:02 PM

I bet Barry Pepper, Paul Giamatti, Tom Sizemore, and Giovanni Ribisi were all sitting around watching Vin Diesel thinking "no way this clown will ever be bigger than me." And I bet it eats at them every day.

Gertner 08-11-2009 03:19 PM

Go get your fucking shinebox.

Same here

One of my favorite war movies of all time

Gertner 08-11-2009 03:44 PM

Seth. You're gay, you're vote doesn't count.

Jeritron 08-11-2009 06:37 PM

I think this kind of an easy 5th round for Goodfellas, even though I voted Saving Private Ryan.

What I'm saying is that I like Goodfellas more, but its kind of a given that it would get squashed

Supreme Olajuwon 08-11-2009 07:16 PM

I think that's probably a testament to Goodfellas rather than a criticism of Saving Private Ryan.

Rammsteinmad 08-11-2009 07:21 PM

Saving Private Ryan because:

1. I like it more.
2. I don't want Goodfellas to be in the Hall of Fame.

Kapoutman 08-11-2009 08:24 PM

I didn't really enjoy Goodfellas.

Triple Naitch 08-12-2009 05:26 PM

May I recommend early 90s kids movies for the next round? Blank Check, Rookie of the Year, Heavyweights, Camp Nowhere, 3 Ninjas. We must find out which is the greatest 90s kids movie.

CSL 08-12-2009 05:34 PM

ROSENBEGGAR!

Lock Jaw 08-12-2009 06:46 PM

Not a very strong matchup for the HoF round... SPR gets my vote.

Heavyweights deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.

Downunder 08-12-2009 08:41 PM

Goodfellas

The Jayman 08-13-2009 10:37 AM

Had to go with SPR. it's just one of those movies I can watch over and over.
