Do you think Foley is still wrestling for "the love of the business"?
I had a conversation yesterday and it started about WCW bringing in KISS, Master P, David Arquette, etc. people that "were only really looking for another paycheck" and the conversation slowly moved to people like Mick Foley, Terry Funk, and even touched on Nash's "for the money" gimmick. Foley didnt want to be just a commentator in the WWE so he went to TNA to wrestle again, do you think he did it for the money? Do you think that there are any guys who still wrestle for the fans, or is TNA just another paycheck for alot of these older wrestlers?

I do not know, but I think he needs to stop.
I'm tired of his hobo persona. |
No. I wonder if he thinks about the things he said in his promo for his 'retirement' match at No Way Out 2000 every time he laces up his boots. You know, the bit about being not coming back after and being a whore.

KISS would play at a sausage fest if the money was right.
Jews, remember? |

well I'm guessing the offer and job security with TNA over WWE isn't that great. he might make more but harder on the body(not that there seems to be much with the E)
I guess it would depend on what that paycheck is, and what he was being offered in WWE... I think a little bit of both. Remeber when Vince talked about his finances on Raw i think, talking about money he put away for his parents... ...I wonder if that was real, and if so, did they loose there money they where putting away with that 401K Scam in the states...the price of college when he retired, along with the cost of living has changed, can't blame him for taking care of his family. You'd think being a long term anouncer in a company that's been around for 50 years and still going strong would be a better idea to take care of his family and make money though. If he would just rather still wrestle I wonder if that's for himself or that fans though?.. |

I'll try and write a thesis next time, or at least an essay. So, if you don't like my posts than do yourself a favour a skip over them.
Thank you... |
No, just type something quick and to the point. We already have noid writing thesises.
|
He speaks the truth. One Noid is plenty. :D
|
I don't think I've ever bothered to read a Noid's thesis.
|
Foley can stay around as long as he wants. I am and always will be a Mick Foley fan. His stuff in TNA isn't his best work but he is so good at selling a feud that he's a real asset to the company.
All that being said I'm going to assume he's doing his TNA stint because a love of the buisness to give back to something that gave him so much, more so than his desire get in the ring. |

I think the business is so different now from what a guy like Foley 'loved' that there's no way he's doing it for anything other than money. I could be wrong, though.
|
To everybody bitching about long posts, no offense, this is called a DISCUSSION forum. So what if Noid, or any other poster, writes a long post. If you guys have ADD, don't read the fuckin post.
|
No, it is called the wrestling forum. Wanna get busy?
|
if mick foley wanted to he could retire from wrestling altogether and do nothing for the rest of his life, or write books to fill out his days, he's made a shit load of money over his career
|
Right...but I think the point of this thread is that he IS still wrestling and some of us are wondering why he would still do it.
|
I don't think he's doing it for the love of the business anymore. I don't think he's doing it for the money either.
I think he's really trying to put one over Vince by helping TNA to increase it's profile. I think Mick really believes that TNA will be bigger than WWE one day. |
Doesn't really seem like he gives a crap anymore, just as long as he gets a paycheck.
|
He either wants attention, or a paycheck, or both. Whichever it is, he's getting annoying as fuck these days.
|
apparently I'm the only one who thinks he's been good in TNA
|
I don't think he's been particularly bad in TNA, I'm just sick of him.
|
"Damn you Abyss! You ruined my characture of JB and me!" :shifty:
|
ah well that's understandable then
I love him everywhere so that explains why I like him in TNA a lot I suppose |

How long was the Main Event Mafia meant to be around anyway? And why haven't they put over any new talent, like they were supposed to, yet? |
Foley talked about considering joining TNA in his 3rd book...they asked him to join.
I wish he hadn't. |

Well shit! If that's the case, the WWE needs to cut Primo, Jamie Noble, Jimmy Wang Yang, and The Great Khali asap. Granted if they did that, at least 2 of those 4 would end up in World Elite. |

You think so, but not neccessarily.
Anyway. The future of TNA isn't going to be fromthe remnanats of WWE's cast-offs. That's not tosay there isn't value in some WWE guys, but there direction is far to inter-twined with WWE guys. One of WWe's big edges is/(was) in promoting new guys. In keeping things fresh. They too (WWE) need more of that again. IMO, that's the key to sucess in 'rasslin. |
