Say you can play 5 games for the rest of yr life

And these are the only 5 games that you'll ever get to play again. What would you pick?

D Mac 10-17-2009 03:40 PM

Modern Warfare 2
Madden
Rock Band 3
Guitar Hero Metallica
Fallout 3

redoneja 10-17-2009 03:45 PM

Think I'd go with:

Fire Pro Returns (PS2)
Perfect Dark (N64)
Super Mario World (Super Nintendo)

Those three really stand out to me. I'd have to think about two more.

What year of Madden would you want?

D Mac 10-17-2009 03:51 PM

The last one I could get.

Xero 10-17-2009 03:54 PM

Super Mario 3
Super Mario World
Final Fantasy 7
Fire Pro Returns
World of Warcraft - I'm assuming I still get updates, since that's how the game works.

D Mac 10-17-2009 03:55 PM

You'd be stuck in the 16 bit generation for the rest of your life?

RoXer 10-17-2009 04:15 PM

Perfect Dark
MW2
L4D2
The Orange Box
SF4

This is assuming I have online

Verbose Minch 10-17-2009 04:22 PM

Metal Gear Solid 3/4
Fallout 3
Oblivion
Orange Box
Half Life 1

8/16 bit > Now.

I'd rather we never have exited the 16 bit era. MUCH more fun back then.

LoDownM 10-17-2009 04:29 PM

PS1/N64/Dreamcast is the era we should have never left.

Only 5 games? I'd have to think about that.

Kalyx triaD 10-17-2009 04:32 PM

Am I isolated or do I have internet connection?

It's not all about graphics Dmac.

Xero 10-17-2009 04:48 PM

Not to mention, I feel graphics in the 16 bit era were actually better.

I'm not saying there aren't good games today, but if I listed my top 50 games, I'm pretty sure at least 75% would from the 16-bit or 8-bit era. I just have more fun with those games. And I still do to this day.

Kalyx triaD 10-17-2009 04:50 PM

You can max out easier with less power.

asphyXy 10-17-2009 06:56 PM

Starcraft: Brood War
Metal Gear Solid 4
Sonic The Hedgehog 2
Contra
NHL '94

The Mask 10-17-2009 07:09 PM

vice city
san andreas
no mercy
shenmue
shenmue 2

Emperor Smeat 10-17-2009 07:20 PM

Legend of Zelda (NES)
The Orange Box since that by itself is about 5 games
Perfect Dark
1 FIFA game but not sure which version yet
Grand Theft Auto San Andreas

Kalyx triaD 10-17-2009 07:34 PM

Halo 3 (multiplayer's yet to get old for me)
Legend of Zelda OoT (the overworld is therapeutic)
Rock Band 2 (w/ all current and future DLC)
Capcom vs SNK 2
Tetris

Kalyx triaD 10-17-2009 07:35 PM

I know there's fond memories but let's be serious here.

Xero 10-17-2009 07:56 PM

I play more 8/16-bit games and SIMILAR games (in their style) than I play "current" games.

It's not memories for me, it's the "now".

Kalyx triaD 10-17-2009 08:00 PM

Alright, that's cool.

But I've come across a lot of people who blow smoke with similar comments.

Cool King 10-17-2009 08:03 PM

It was a bit tough to pick only five, but I would choose....

Super Mario Bros. 3
The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past
WWF No Mercy
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
TimeSplitters: Future Perfect

Vastardikai 10-17-2009 08:05 PM

Latest Madden
Runescape (yeah, I play it.)
Katamari Damacy (again, yeah, I play it)
Latest Tekken
Tetris

Swiss Ultimate 10-18-2009 02:31 PM

For variety sake I'd want 5 vastly different experience...

L4D XBox 360 since it's always fun to play with a friend and I think even when I'm old and decrepit I'll want to kill zombies.

Super Mario Bros SNES since it was always fun and looked awesome even by today's standards. Bright colors and fun gameplay...hooray.

No Mercy N64 Because it was the first game that really allowed you to deeply immerse yourself in the storyline. Also the create a wrestler and create a ppv modes were awesome.

Kingdom Hearts PS2 because it was fun to explore, fun to fight and just a nice piece of Disney nostalgia that I wouldn't mind playing indefinitely. I mean, c'mon, you get to fight with Donald Fucking Duck!

I'd have to pick GTA: San Andreas for the 5th game since it'd be nice to have a sandbox game with tons of mini-games (that suck) and missions (that are stupid) to fall back on if I ever got tired of just driving and flying all over the place.

World of Warcraft - I'm assuming I still get updates, since that's how the game works.

I think everyone with updates is almost cheating. lol.

I'd say if you're going to play 1 game the rest of your life if it changes and updates all the time it's almost like playing a new game every day. But, the restrictions weren't overly specific...oh well.

Xero 10-18-2009 02:41 PM

Well, if I can't have WoW (I don't play anymore, but I figured that was a loophole for fresh content) I'd probably take one of the Sim Cities. Probably 3kU.

Kalyx triaD 10-18-2009 02:44 PM

With No Mercy's CAW and edit mode aren't you essentially updating the game?

Xero 10-18-2009 02:48 PM

You're not getting outside updates, though. It's what comes on the cart.

Kalyx triaD 10-18-2009 02:52 PM

True, but a dedicated editor could turn No Mercy into No Mercy 2010. Some really have.

I just want any all music available for RB2. It would be the only music game I need.

Swiss Ultimate 10-18-2009 03:58 PM

I am surprised nobody's come out with a IPod Hero program yet. Like one of those cheap kid-games that you buy then hook up directly to the TV. I've seen a driving game, a baseball game and a bunch of other crap. You buy the device and then play a low-graphic game with it...etc.

If they did that with a guitar though, you could hook it up to your TV and then pop your mp3 player into the guitar and play whatever song you wanted to play. The graphics would of course be pretty weak, it'd probably look like a karaoke program.

Kalyx triaD 10-18-2009 04:05 PM

How would the thing chart the songs though? I guess it would be similar to those games that generate objects by the tempo and sounds of music. There was this puzzle game that did that really well.

Yeah, but video games today offer more than just graphics. I mean, where would gaming be without Quick Time Events?

...Bad example.

But at least we have new control schemes, like the Sixxaxis and Na...Nevermind.

But hey, there's online chat, so you can hear the thirteen year old cocksucker who's teabagging your corpse...Okay, that was an even worse example. Unless you're thirteen and like men's balls on your mouth (Xero).

Seriously, though, generation arguments are some of the dumbest ones. I mean, the 8-bit era and even the 16 bit era managed to have some of the worst shovelware ever. Good games are good games, and there are a lot in almost any generation.

Anyway, assuming at the very least, I still have multiplayer:

Rock Band 2 (D-Bag may be pulling 3 out, but since it doesn't even exist yet....Also, I wouldn't say "all the updates," But I'd hope for some DLC, like maybe 25 choice songs)
Saints Row 2 (Online Co-Op is a blast...STILL.)
Tetris (This is seriously the one game I would never get sick of. At least, I haven't in 20 years)
Dynasty Warriors 3 (This is a tough one, because there are a fuckton of good games in the Warriors series...)
And this is probably jumping the gun a little, but SVR10. I know I could say No Mercy, but I want more features than NM provided.

Though it's funny everyones all over No Mercy's jock now that it's a retro title...TPWW was heavily slanted towards the contemporary Smackdown titles. I guess nostalgia changes everything...

Yeah, if only someone would come out with something like that....:|
