Santino Marella: Sitcom Star?
From PWInsider:
AOL.com's InsideTV section is reporting that WWE will begin shooting a "sitcom" based around Santino Marella for WWE.com, with the idea of pitching it to networks. The article featured comments from Marella, noting they would be filming three episodes "next week" and that Vladimir Kozlov and Beth Phoenix will co-star. http://insidetv.aol.com/2010/01/26/w...arella-sitcom/ |
Will Vince ever figure out that ouside of wrestling he's never done shit?
|
XFL :shifty:
|
well Santino and Kozlov had such good chemistry on ECW the other night I don't see how this could fail

There's no harm if they just run it on WWE.com. It'll be like a bigger version of Santino's Casa. They're pretty crazy if they think it'll get picked up by any networks, though.
|
this sounds like something FOX would do
|
Maybe NBC can replace Leno with it.
|
this sounds like a disaster in the making

good point ABT

I am offended that show is set in Va.

This is a stupid idea. Santino is hilarious, but only in small doses like the few minutes he gets every week. He's probably funny backstage, but will wrestling fans care about him outside WWE regular programming in a starring role?
I'm happy WWE recognize his talent, but too much Santino might be overkill. I'd progressively give him a bit more tv time over the next couple of months and see how it turns out and where it goes. I think every WWE side project has turned out to be crap. |
Santino actually has some sly, clever humour to him. If they allowed him to tap into that, it could be alright.
But this is WWE, so we're looking at 30 minutes of poop jokes and Hornswoggle cameos. |

Are they going to have subtitles for Kozlov like they did for Khali in the longest yard? |
Personally I can't stand Santino...I wish Owen Hart was still alive so that he could give that bastard the "Stone Cold Crusher" piledriver and break his damn neck.
|
I wish Owen Hart was alive so his children could have a father.
|
Fathers are overrated,I bet his wife was suckin Vinces dick behind his back for years before Owen found out and then Vince had the equipment magically "fail" so he wouldn't find out their secrets
|
I'll bet that didn't happen at all.
|
I'll bet that Dante69's father was never around much for his youth.
|
Yeah, sucking Vince's dick took up all his time.

What else is Santino going to do?
This is a fine idea. |
You know, I have this crazy idea that if you actually focus on your main product that it would be able to attract more viewers.
|
Santino won't help them attract more viewers. Just let him have this, because it will inevitably fail.
Then we will all be right back where we started. |
True. And I'm not saying that Santino can attract more viewers, I'm just saying that instead of projects like this they could put the time and energy into the main product.
With that said, after this news, I'm expecting John Cena's Rap n' Wrestling cartoon to be announced sooner than later. |

Now if we can all forgot about the XFL and the body building thing they used to build up Lex Luger... I think this thing MIGHT have half a chance.
Carelli is a talented performer. If WWE wants him to be a comedy star, then they can atleast give him the proper platform. |
I think this is very wise but only if they leave it on wwe.com.

So I take it that this is merely creative trying to find something for Kozlov, Santino, and Beth to do before they all inevitably get future endeavored?
|
This is weird because if it is a hit on US television (no matter how unlikely), then surely they'd all leave wrestling to focus on their new 'careers'. If it tanks, then it's just another horrible Wrestlecrap adventure that was doomed to failure from the begining and they'll all get released.
|
I hope this is just as good as WWE action movies, yeah.
