Sorry, but talking about how it's realistic doesn't particularly sound like a solid argument to me. You can make an immersive envornment without brand names pretty easily, and with the rising cost of video games, I don't see why anyone should pay to start at retarded advertisements.
I mean, sure, there's always some idiot who says "I don't mind it," Whether it be waterboarding at Gitmo or the nickel increase in the Subway menu, but whatever.

Well, relatively realistic. Developers are taking a fantastic and unrealistic concept and putting it in a realistic setting. I think the more realistic the setting for an unrealistic concept, the easier it is to immerse yourself.
And by no means am I saying we NEED these ads in. Nor am I saying that they even make that big a difference. But if done well it certainly adds a bit of help. And it certainly doesn't hurt as much as many of these people against it, think it does.
