Sure, there has to be a hierarchy and guys need to get beat for other guys to get wins, jobbers are required as much as main eventers... you never see a one-match card in wrestling. Somebody's got to be the opening match guy, and one unlucky soul has to be the man staring at the lights in said opening match... but why bother creating a character to fulfill that role? Surely if the card was full of guys who could potentially draw, who could potentially have a serious run, they will each eventually settle into whatever role befits their skill level, creative presentation and execution, drawing power and popularity anyway, be it main eventer or worthless jobber... rather than design people to specifically fail from day one.
The Pizza Man would never headline WrestleMania. Then again, I seem to recall a certain Mark Callaway set to debut at Survivor Series 1990 under the name The Eggman too, so things can change. So... does anyone else see The Ringmaster getting into the 2009 Hall of Fame??

I also said it'd be a good way to START a new guy. You give him a comical gimmick revolving around how he used to be a pizza boy. Not only could it be a little funny, but it's something people could relate to. But, you also do it like I said, where he's not literally working for a pizza company while being a wrestler. It's a backstory gimmick overall, and wouldn't necessarily effect his attire or his speech patterns. Although, I'd like for him to use The Pizza Cutter.
Point being, it's not a bad idea if you aren't set up for failure, and any gimmick can be set up for evolution.
