That only works if you operate from the erroneous notion that the writers are the same and the only thing that's changed is the accepted rating.
Next paragraph, you say that we can blame the writing more than the PG, which is more correct. WWE started hiring hollywood writers a few years back, moving away from guys with wrestling knowledge and experience, and so that's a major change that would impact the writing more than any restriction on content. I can't prove it, but I'm fairly well grounded when I say I bet they'd write just as bad if they were allowed to write TV MA or similar.
