The planet of weeping angels weren't easily outdone. It takes two episodes and the Doctor has to fuck up royally before they know how boned they are.
There's a lot I don't like about those episodes, but the Angles were a real threat. Weakened, but a threat.

You misunderstood me, I think Smith is excellent as the Doctor.
Perhaps stating that Tennant is my favorite so far that I have seen would be more accurate, though it can change. Tennant had the look like he could explain the theory of relativity to a wall and have it show it understood him.
I think the thing that puts me off is that Smith looks younger then his companion and that hasn't happened before or so I believe.
As for the angels, Blink as I said was excellent for the reasons we agree on. However they went from Dalek level enemy to a lot less IMO due to having a a planet of them foiled.
Blink had an immensely complex story and your jaw dropped at how the doctor managed to get out of it and made the angels something you knew not to screw with.
The planet of them made them look so much less dangerous.
