Meltzer mentioned on Twitter that All Out appears to have done roughly double what ECW's best ppv buys were for a non-WWE show. ECW's highest was around 99k for Heatwave 99.
Tony Khan mentioned the number was also around what WWE got as an average for their non-Big 4 shows the year before the WWE Network's launch, which was in the 180-190k range.

ECW was on domestic PPV where you had to have a TV hooked up booked out so you could actually sit down and watch it live. And people actually used to have PPV parties. AEW exists in a world where some dumb-ass kid whose family isn’t going to waste time on wrestling can go to his room and order it from his tablet, computer, phone or smart TV. And the entire global number is counted.
The AEW/ECW comparison is so disingenuous, and it’s proof that Meltzer just cannot be trusted on these matters anymore. Even domestic buys in 2021 versus domestic buys in 1999 would be sketchy. But to compare AEW’s international buys in with their domestic? Holy fucking dog-shit, Batman.
If AEW did 200k worldwide buys, then about 132k domestic buys is more likely. Which is still enough to “beat” ECW, but the entire market has changed.
