I've heard from several people that the graphic novels are good though. Never read any.

Last volume of the comic series came out last week. Amazing. Definitely read the books if you haven't, one of the best series I've read.

Michael Cera will be in every scene Ermax, so the movie being great minus Michael Cera = no movie.

I dunno I love the happless bumbling style of comedic actors like Cera and that kid from Zombieland...think his name is Jessie somethingerother....plus I like the kid who played McLovin

I think I'm a fan of the bumbling underdog.

Probably as good of a translation of the books as you can get. Michael Cera was a much better Scott Pilgrim than I was expecting. Strongest ensemble cast I've seen in a while. Also, fight scenes were much stronger than I expected.

Such a great movie. Alot of fun and definitely meant for those who've played video games since back in the NES days. Edgar Wright does it again with this one. I'd so see it a second time!

BTW Mary Elizabeth is such a cutie too. Have the biggest crush on her, and Knives ain't too bad herself!

This has really kinda bombed at the box office. The grosses are disappointing at best.

It's a shame too because it's a very good movie. I wonder why audiences are staying away? It could look "too hipster" for some people, or maybe people are sick of Michael Cera?

Obviously it has it's cult following already, but I suspect a lot of people will discover it on dvd

It is too hipster for most people. It's kinda acknowledged here and there in the comics. Based on the way the comics are laid out, I think this would have been a better miniseries on tv than a movie.

I don't know. People said the same thing about Watchmen but in both cases I don't really agree. It's a pretty clearcut story arc, and it's a straight forward story that lends itself to being realized in one go around.
Just because the comics are broken up into different parts doesn't mean the live action adaptation should be.
I also have no problems with a lot of the fat being cut for film adaptations of just about anything in print. As long as the important stuff is all there and the film is good/true to the source material in spirit.

Trouble is, the majority of Watchmen comics fans were in Nerd Rage spasms coming out of the theatres and movie fans were like WTF?

A big budget HBO 12 part series would have been better, IMO.

Scott Pilgrim strikes me as some shit that should be 6 mid to low budget (intentionally shitty FX) films filmed in 1 go and released annually. The biggest aspect of the books' charm was than there were so many stupid little subplots and retarded things going on that the main plot seemed almost secondary to the daily happenings of the characters. Problem is that this approach caters directly to the cult following and will not generate as much moey as a big budget film would should.

DVD sales might not make the film profitable since about a week ago it was around $24-$25 million in revenue earned but cost $85 million to produce.
