TNA not moving to Primetime
Source: Wrestling Observer
TNA's iMPACT! move to primetime in April is no more. Jeff Jarrett apparently told the wrestlers are a pre-show meeting today at the tapings that Spike TV executives have changed their mind and will not be putting the show in a primetime slot. The new timeslot starting on April 13th will be Thursdays at 11 p.m. This will follow the Ken Shamrock/Tito Ortiz season opener of Ultimate Fighter. The change was made as Spike made the decision to move the Ultimate Fighter to 10 p.m on Thursdays. Dave Meltzer reports that on 4/13, the line-up will be CSI at 8 p.m., UFC Unleashed at 9 p.m., Ultimate Fighter at 10 p.m. and TNA Impact at 11 p.m., which is the line-up that by far makes the most sense for everyone. And shepherds we shall be, for thee my lord for thee. Power hath decended forth from thy hand so our feet may swiftly carry out thy command. And we shall flow a river forth to thee and teeming with souls shall it ever be. In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti. |

Spike TV must have heard that TNA lost Shannon Moore.

Worst part of this is that with a slot at 11 and with the UFC entrenched on Thursdays, Spike clearly has no plan to expand TNA past one hour even if it gets great ratings.

They should switch the TNA and CSI timeslots and then it would be good.

Honestly, if I'm Spike TV, I'm not impressed. Say what you want, but there's give and take when it comes to putting wrestling on free (well, cable, but still not PPV) TV, and frankly, I didn't see TNA doing a lot of giving.
If Spike really DID help pay for Sting, I'd be pretty pissed if I were a Spike TV executive, considering the only ACTION appearances he's made after being there nearly three fucking months have been on Pay-Per-View, which doesn't benefit Spike TV in the least. That's the biggest example, but generally speaking, I don't think TNA cares too much about television ratings and only wants a television show as an infomercial to help sell PPVs (again, I know that's part of the game, but in TNA's case, the give and take that needs to be there isn't there, in my opinion). |

That's a good post.TNA are stupid for thinking that squash/joober shows would be enough.Yeah sure they do put on good PPV's, but that isn't what is going to make me watch Impact. |

Nah, Pepis, you have a point. Impact is a squah/jobber show like the old WWF Superstars shows on Saturday mornings. In this era, and with a company that should've been trying to build an audience, that was just stupid.

If it is true, another thing to think about is that by moving both UFC and TNA to after 10PM, Spike may be working to keep the ratings as high as possible for the hot Thursday night properties on that other Viacom-owned network -- namely, Survivor and CSI.
