It's like people turned off by the NBA because of all the black players, so they choose BBA, Basic Basketball Association, where every player must confine themselves to dribbling with the same hand the entire game and can never switch over and the only way to shoot is by set-shot. No dunks allowed. Only layups. Free throws can only be shot in the underhand Rick Barry style. BBA has few black players.

What's going to happen when black fighters start dominating MMA though? Will another gimmick sport be created to compensate? Something like Lumberjack Noggin' Smash, where two lumberjacks swing from trees to get maximum force when their heads collide. The first one who can make it back down while conscious is the winner. How about Man-Canine Tag Team, where grunts fight with their dogs in tag team matches? This of course done in the hexagon. Woooo. This may later include other animals too. Matches will feature Hobo Harry and his Alligator versus Trailer Park Elroy and his Python. Maybe weapons will be introduced in the MMA of the future. Jim Bob, the unabomber wannabe, will bring his explosives to go up against Elmer The Slicer and his Chainsaw.

Meanwhile, the Sweet Science continues as always.

MMA doesn't get enough creit from hardcore boxing fans, and boxing doesn't get enough credit fom hardcore MMA fans.

That's how it is, that's how it will be.

I like both, but I've always enjoyed boxing more.

I dunno man, the racism angle is definitely stretching it, but the guy at least brings his point across in an intelligent, civilized manner. You should be so lucky that he's not another "bawwwwwwwwboxing is the bestest and mmma are fags!!!!!strawman111!!11!!" guy.

Also, I've too commented on the "sideshow" atmosphere of american MMA companies. It does not have the feel of any of the major sports, including boxing, as this guy mentioned. MMA will continue to be massively popular, don't get me wrong. But it will always be a niche sport until they change their image.

Look at Pride FC. Pride FC set MMA records for attendance, and had a lot more respect from the japanese sports media. Again, alot of that was because of the presentation. You watch a Pride event, an then a UFC event and it's like night and day. UFC does look like a circus show in comparison.

And hell, they've actually gotten better in that regard, as opposed to the early days of UFC. But as of right now, they aren't there yet.

Well their events are held in these dinky show rooms n Vegas and other small ass venues instead of proper arenas and their production values are a little on the cheap end too. Plus all the dudes having shit like "condomdepot.com" on their short doesn't help.

PRIDE was poorly run and corrupt though, and had a ton of pro wrestling elements. I liked watching PRIDE and everything, but it was more of a freak show than ufc. UFC doesn't do the freak show thing. And its production values really aren't that bad.

That doesnt matter. People as a whole are dumb and attracted by big lights and big crowds. Sure PRIDE was full of circus style side show matches, but it was carried out in a way that made it look like it was the next superbowl. UFC provides legitimate matches and strong product, but they hold their events in casinos and smaller venues. They try and make it like boxing used to be with competitors come through the crowd and are closer to the fans. You are right, but I think for whatever reason, the niche thing with UFC is quite clearly working.

Just cuz some douchebag boxing fan is obviously going to side with his sport doesn't mean there's anything wrong with UFC production. It's just lower key, but it's super tight. I like how it isn't over the top personally.

i think mma is more successful atm because it has more characters. there aren't really any huge huge names in boxing right now. there's no tyson or ali or anyone like that. meanwhile in mma you have top of the game fighters like fedor and GSP and it's genuinely interesting.

condomdepot on everybodies arse makes me laugh though. might as well say "BUM HERE" and have an arrow pointing to the guys arsehole.

i am also a fan of sideshow fights here and there. like you know something is going to happen every time, which is welcome relief if you just watched 2 fights go to a decision where two men lay on the ground hugging each other for ten minutes.

to conclude though, i think mma will overtake boxing soon. it seems anyone with any interest in fighting is heading in that direction. i don't think anybody who never trained a day in their lives wakes up and thinks "i'm going to become the mma/boxing world champion". they'll probably take their first classes for self defense and mma is well rounded and proven to work. boxing is good but limited.
