Pride FC set MMA records for attendance, and had a lot more respect from the japanese sports media. Again, alot of that was because of the presentation. You watch a Pride event, an then a UFC event and it's like night and day. UFC does look like a circus show in comparison. And hell, they've actually gotten better in that regard, as opposed to the early days of UFC. But as of right now, they aren't there yet.

PRIDE was poorly run and corrupt though, and had a ton of pro wrestling elements. I liked watching PRIDE and everything, but it was more of a freak show than ufc. UFC doesn't do the freak show thing. And its production values really aren't that bad.

That doesnt matter. People as a whole are dumb and attracted by big lights and big crowds. Sure PRIDE was full of circus style side show matches, but it was carried out in a way that made it look like it was the next superbowl. UFC provides legitimate matches and strong product, but they hold their events in casinos and smaller venues. They try and make it like boxing used to be with competitors come through the crowd and are closer to the fans. Thats great for the hardcore fans or the ones who understand it, but for people who know nothing, they need the big lights, the entrance ramp, the pyro, the giant show feel of it you get whenever you watch any other professional sport.

You are right, but I think for whatever reason, the niche thing with UFC is quite clearly working.

Just cuz some douchebag boxing fan is obviously going to side with his sport doesn't mean there's anything wrong with UFC production. It's just lower key, but it's super tight. I like how it isn't over the top personally.
