Seattle seems like they're quite prepared for this game. It's almost like good football teams can prepare just fine on 3 days rest.

The NFL's problem is expecting Sunday-like ratings for the Thursday games when that's not possible at all right now. The Chiefs-Eagles game broke the all-time record for the Network but wasn't close to what the NFL averaged that week for the CBS and Fox tv games.

Not at all. But It is on their own network, pulling in ratings ridiculously higher than whatever they would be showing in it's place and it's generally games that wouldn't be shown to most of country on Sunday anyway.

I think it's telling that a random early season Chiefs-Eagles game is the highest rated show in the network's history now though. The highest rated game before I think was the Cowboys @ Saints game a few years ago where the Saints came in undefeated. Now that they've expanded the schedule, it's a big selling point. People are just watching random games now because it's the only football available at the time.

Lol I'm not a real person because I called you on exactly what you do when faced with a differing opinion.

More often than not, the Thursday games are sloppy, one-sided, or both. You can't deny that. The first half of one game is decent and you're ready to say "I told you so" those who disagree with you.

Sure the ratings were up for a few games, but how long can that last if the games are consistently terrible?

It will last. Because it's NFL Network. And an actual live NFL game, even if it's between the shittiest teams that no one would go out of their way to watch if there are other football options available, has WAY more value in the ratings than whatever random NFL Films reruns they'd be running for 4 hours. And as far as quality, it's not just one decent first half. Let's not pretend there hasn't been quite a few great Thursday Night games over the years.

I have no problem with the Thanksgiving and kickoff Thursday games. But all year is a bit much. And again, the fact that the games have been awful for the most part doesn't help. I'd rather watch NFL films than Bills-Browns, for example.

The entire point I was making was Thursday night games... in general... are a great idea.

You wanna draw me into this sub-argument about the quality of this year's games. I don't care. I can make the same claim for Monday night games. Shitty games happen. It doesn't make having games on those nights a bad thing.

I'm not arguing how good this years games have been no matter how bad you wanna shift things that direction. My entire point is that Thursday night games are good. In general. For everyone. You get another night of football as a fan, the NFL CLEARLY benefits from it in the ratings department... What is the issue here? That the rate of quality games is low? I've got news for you... the rate of quality games overall is pretty fucking low. You take one of those games and you put them on another night. More time for football. Seriously... what's the problem?

And my entire point to start, which you are conveniently ignoring, is that when EVERY GAME on Thursday has been utter shit, it's not fun to watch. I'm not talking ratings at all. I'm not sure why you went there when this was really about game quality in the first place (referring to RDD's comment about players looking sluggish on short rest).

As a football fan, I'd rather have the option to watch a football game on a Thursday, shitty or not, than not have that option. As would a shitload of other people. As is clear by the fact that the ratings are quite high. So yes, Thursday Night games are a good idea. Even outside Thanksgiving. Turns out football players are capable of playing football on other Thursdays so... they have taken advantage of it.
