You can still get stuff done without the DLC, just takes longer.

The bounties are only available once. I'm guessing by the progression of things, they reset once a week like Nightfalls instead of daily like normal bounties. I guess the daily reset of the targets was only for the week long lead-in to the DLC (which I didn't know about. Should have been Queen Wrath 3 by now, but I didn't play most of last week).

Honestly, the campaign was a bit underwhelming. I couldn't really enjoy/savor it because you HAVE to finish it to get the Prison of Elders to become available, so I went barrelling through it. Would have been nice to run a few more missions after that. Also, I was initially exited about the prospect of buying weapon or armor upgrades instead of grinding and hoping they drop... but just like Eris Morn, you EXCHANGE what you have with the speaker, and still need to grind and hope. I want purchaces, not alchemy.

That said, I like PoE. It's kind of like Reach's Firefight. And the fact that they don't go "No fireteam? Sorry sucker!" My initial runthrough was with two randoms who seem like they've been on it from jump. I luckily got a treasure key from a re-loot (thanks, Dark One!) and picked up a 3rd Thunderlord... but this one is post DLC, so it is already at base 3 atk higher than the other two I got from Xur a couple weeks ago at max.

Re rolling weapons is amazing, and with that, I'm glad they added the ability to lock crap you don't want to sell. Got a legendary SR that almost rivals my MIDA.

And again, I dig the sidearm... its like a mini pulse rifle with faster rate of fire of single shots instead of charging a burst cluster. Can't wait to see what others eventually appear in the wild besides the Vestian Dynasty.

As for stuff you can do, I haven't gotten a proper raid on like ever finished Crota once (and got the pulse rifle) and never ran Vault of Glass. My crew is too into instant gratification to put in any grind time beyond when the game dropped (and I didn't even have a One yet, which is another detriment to me, because they have "moved on" and by comparison, its still "new" to me. They got kinda geeked about the prospect of the Trials, but if it's like the PoE, they have to finish the missions first. I hope not.

Also, on the campaign, I had a "Metal Gear Awesome" moment at the endgame. Platforms disappear like so much Megaman, and they didn't start doing so until I was standing on one. After I died and came back, Petra Venj then warns me about the "time shifting" floors.

Got it now. Finished the quests and did PoE. How gear works is just far and away better than it was. And the game gives you stuff way more. I got four purple drops in PvP sessions today.

They're for the Trials of Osiris: the elimination style tourney thing.

You buy in, and you get a scorecard. You squad up with two others for PvP. No respawns. 9 wins, 3 losses or weekly reset, and you have to buy in again. More wins open beter prizes. Its Smash TV, baby!

Kind of on a timeframe like Iron Banner or Xur, as it's only open friday through reset (tue).

Unless you're talking about those Judgment tokens. Thats a completely different thing.

As for Kt's claim about getting stuff "way more"... I honestly got more crap than ever before. I mean drops/rewards seem to be more frequent, but there's more bullshit in the hopper now. I mean, public events have started netting me a lot more farmable goods i can find elsewhere or buy in shops than ascended items I could use. The bounty crates almost always get me a special synth (i was down to single digits for all 3 characters, now I think I have a total of 80+ between them all), and the only times I got purple engrams is luck with the re-loot.

Finished the story for House of Wolves this morning. Missed out on what could have been a good story. I wished they talked about the House of Kings a bit more. Hell, even a bit more back story with Variks' House of Judgement would have been nice.

I might jump into the Prison this weekend and see how that fares. But I'm probably gonna wait for all my buddies to come down from their Witcher 3 high before they get back into this.

Mentioned in one of the missions he was a Scribe with House Wolves. Didn't agree with Skolas' views.

Also, watching that vid made me think of something: in the Western Europe map, don't the physics seem a bit more... accelerated? I seem to sprint, jump, aim, and all around move faster in every way only on that map. Its almost like the difference between playing SF turbo then normal the next match. It is only that map, and everything goes back to normal on every other place.

Not bitching. Hell, it makes it more fun, to me. Except for when I overjump a target because I'm moving faster than I think I am and land out of intended position or into my doom.

Not discounting that, as I sleep in an infrequent, disjointed fashion. But as I said, its only that map. Physics are normal everywhere else. Even in your vid, you seem to move faster on that segment, almost like you sped the vid up by about .5 on playback.

And I'm a little less geeked about Osiris Trials, now. I didn't understand that the wins had to be CONSECUTIVE for prizes. I figured they all counted so long as you don't suffer 3 losses (or 4, as I bought the deal for loss forgiveness). Went in with someone earler who got all super pissy because we didn't win (I'm not a particularly good PvPer, and the other guy never does Crucible ever, just raids) and as such, "screwed" the third guy out of his goodies. Granted, he talked like a douchebag who takes his gaming wayyyy too seriously, even in the face of others who may have "kids and bills and responsibilities and shit", but it still seems a tad unfair if you don't have a squad of 3 who can put real life on hold on a consistent enough basis to last 9 straight 5 win matches.

And did the Nightfall. Did I get a Gallajorn? Did I get an item to ascend some of my gear? Nope, I got yet another Patience and Time (which makes 5) Granted, it's a post DLC 334, and one thing I've always loved in gaming since Golgo 13 on the NES is the use of a good sniper rifle (he used his custom M16, but still, you had to snipe with it), but man, that sucks I haven't been able to up light on anything but my exotic gear so far, and I'm crippled on anything beyond a level 30 difficulty (the shielding on enemies is noticibly harder to chip away at 32. Enemies die all the same, but I'm drying a clip to break shields, and by the time I reload, unless someone else continues firing, they've recharged.)

And those Osiris opponents? Yeah, they were 33/34s.

Yeah I'm not even trying the Trials with randos. I barely like doing strikes with strangers and my general opinion on gamers online are they suck at gaming. It's not just skill level, they just do absurd things that don't lead to winning. I like to take control in a match and I expect people to listen after I coordinate tactics. Not an 'ego/elitist' thing, more like a Captain America 'I lead because I make sense' thing. When people listen things go well. When people talk and share info things go well. But overtime it isn't worth talking. Destiny, Halo, Battlefield - they all suck ass.

So I'd hit the Trials with at least one other bud or people would listen and talk.

I'm all for co-ordinated effort, but where I get gun shy is some a-hole trying to be a Sgt. or trying to lead the mission like actual lives are at stake. At the end of the day, I'm playing this video game for fun. We go in, we might end up getting a strategy going, and its laughs and jokes or a myriad of swearing if we get overwhelmingly curb stomped, but its more cathartic than angry. Like the other guy a friend of mine and I "screwed" out of his rewards... we had explained already that a) we had not yet run a ToO yet; this is literally our first drop. I play PvP, but usually control, as people have an objective besides wholesale slaughter to divide their attention between frags and hill captures, and the fact that its 6v6 chaos, and b) Simms literally does not do PvP ever. He said he tried it once and didn't like it too much, so, he literally did everything else. He raids with randoms and grinds on planets, but crucible has pretty much been a rarity, and as such, the Mercury map the trials run on was 100% new to him.

So, how'd the kid react? He proceded to act like things were "common sense" and get legit angry and disparagingly sarcastic. It was like he lives and breathes this shit.

And sadly, guys like that is partly WHY I can't get my regular crew to squad up (the other part is unwillingness to grind because of life/time constraints). Halo PvP, for example, is 90% to 95% private matches. We get our shots off, talk shit, its instant grat, and it's fun. As I've said before, I don't mind the grind. Its distracting to me. Not everyone feels the same about that. But we all agree that treating any of it like truly SFB takes all the wind out of the sails and it disengages everyone.

Also wish the higher Prison rounds had the option of joining randoms, and not just the level 28 one. Still dont have any Armor Cores/Etheric Light, and they made it like raid stuff that pretty much only drops there... but I'm not interested enough to go on a forum recruiting mission everytime, and trying to solo even the 30 is just masochistic, let alone the 34 or 35.

My question is how it's possible to get one-shotted by PvE 32's as a 32, build up to 33 or 34, and STILL get one-shotted by 32's? Especially after trying to initially reach 32 from 30, and becoming more resistant to attack from 30s.

Being the same level means you can deal optimum damage to enemies, but otherwise they are still enemies that should be 'dangerous' rather than complete equals. They will still have weapons you have to be careful about.

Higher levels on the prison need to be open to matchmaking. Gonna be going nowhere if all I can do is first area.

They can also jack up the XP on that, too. Sitting on a lot of tokens and it's gonna be a while before I can start trading in for ships and marks.

Pain in the ass that you can't match-make for raids, but that site worked for me to find a raid group once.
