Damn. Wasn't he the "WWF President?" My memory is foggy. If so, at least it wasn't a tragic death (I think).

damn. He was the man in charge when I started watching. Back when positions of authority actually meant something in the WWE. Tunney will be missed.

I was just watching Royal Rumble '94 yesterday and when he came out to settle the Bret/Luger dispute, I remember thinking "God, Tunney was cool. I wonder whatever happened to him." Now I know. Poor guy.

Tunney's character was quite boring and lame, in my opinion.
Still, sucks to see him go, R.I.P. |

At least he lived a full life.
The memory of his that sticks out most in my mind is him presenting Flair with the title after the 1992 Royal Rumble. He was a product of a diffrent era. |

LoL... Tunney was the shit. Just a few months ago i was thinking they should give somebody a Jack Tunney role. Back in the good old days where it wasn't a constant war between the faces and the management.
Tunney was cool, I'm sure he's happier where ever he is now. |

For some reason I thought he was dead already. It sucks tho, he was a great on-screen guy. I've wondered, ever since I started thinking about such things, who WAS he anyways? I mean, was he just a guy they had play the "WWF President" on-screen, or did he have an actual position in the company?

All I know of him, was when he vacated the Intercontinental Title, setting up HBK vs Razor Ramon... he will be sadly missed.

Jack Tunney was part of the wrestling Tunney family of promoters in Canada and had an important position with WWE Canada, he may have even been Carl DeMarco's predecessor, I'm not quite sure. As far as being "WWF President" goes, that was just an on-screen figurehead role, and he was a victim of the budget cuts in 1995, when he was replaced as President by Gorilla Monsoon.

I recall the segment when Tunney proclaimed that Luger would have to place this pad/brace thing over the metal plate in his forearm.
