What rock/alternativ bands from 90's and today would you recommend as radio friendly?

Everything that got played on the radio back then, perhaps? Despite some of it not being quite suitable for most radio stations, there was certainly a nice opening of the doors for music that was not so "safe" and "friendly" sounding as alot of the tripe was back in the 80's.
