Creation of the powerbomb?

Can't remember where i read it but anyone know if theres some truth to a statement saying that the powerbomb was the result of a fucked up piledriver with one wrestler jumping too high and the opponent putting too much effort into lifting him? Kinda like the ddt was a trip combined with a front face lock.
