Also, I've too commented on the "sideshow" atmosphere of american MMA companies. It does not have the feel of any of the major sports, including boxing, as this guy mentioned. MMA will continue to be massively popular, don't get me wrong. But it will always be a niche sport until they change their image.
Look at Pride FC. Pride FC set MMA records for attendance, and had a lot more respect from the japanese sports media. Again, alot of that was because of the presentation. You watch a Pride event, an then a UFC event and it's like night and day. UFC does look like a circus show in comparison.
And hell, they've actually gotten better in that regard, as opposed to the early days of UFC. But as of right now, they aren't there yet.

PRIDE was poorly run and corrupt though, and had a ton of pro wrestling elements. I liked watching PRIDE and everything, but it was more of a freak show than ufc. UFC doesn't do the freak show thing. And its production values really aren't that bad.
