Looking back, the whole pay-per-view had a dark cloud over it. Even before the main event. It was a very depressing mood for the whole show. You just knew from watching that something bad was going to happen that night.
I wanted to order the PPV, but I had just turned 15, and my parents wouldn't order it for me because of money issues. Anyhow, I knew it was Bret Hart's last match in the World Wrestling Federation. This was before I even had Internet access. I only knew that because I called a wrestling hotline number I found on the back of a PWI magazine, that I later got in trouble for, for calling when the bill came in. lol. I honestly felt like something bad was going to happen the night of the Survivor Series. I remember while the show was going on, I went by the back door of the house, sat down, & just watched the Texas rain. I wasn't sad about not getting to see the show. (That wasn't the first time my parents said "no" to ordering a WWF PPV.) I just sensed something bad was going to happen and I honestly had this weird feeling. The more rational side of me says I felt that way because I knew Bret was leaving the WWF, and I was just depressed, and it was just a very bizarre consequence that Bret would get screwed. |
