What did Bret say and do that made him a heel? Nothing. The only thing that made 1997 Bret Hart different from 1993 Bret Hart was that Bret bad-mouthed Amercians, and began taking pride in his country, and he only insulted Amercians because he was just reacting to all the boo's he was getting. And like I said, fans were cheering Austin, and booing Bret long before his so called "heel run".
And if you took a world poll to see if Bret was a face or a heel, he'd be voted a face because America was the ONLY place where he was booed.
I think you're just kissing up to the States, and you make it seem like everything they do is right. What if Bret was cheered in the States, and everywhere else at that time, but was booed in some country in the middle east?
You'd probably discredit those people, and be saying Bret was a face.
That's how I see our little debate here. One little country boos Bret, and you think it makes him heel, but that's not true. I'm an American, and I don't see America as always being right like you may. I know for a fact we're far from being the greatest country on earth. We're better then most, but we're not always right.
It's all a matter of opinion and how you look at it: To me, Bret was the face, and it was the Americans that were the heels. That is how most of the world saw that program infact.
........I freaking hate heel wrestling fans. It ticks me off when they cheer on scum, such as Randy Orton or other bad guy characters. I would NEVER be a "heel wrestling fan" who cheers the bad guys, and boos the good guys.....and I cheered for Bret Hart and The Hart Foundation through out 1997. Because they were the babyfaces.
