I say the Yankees failing to win the world series will be a failure just because of how hyped they are, how well they've played, and how much they've put into this season, both financially and on the field. But that's baseball. Some may say "well they won 100 games, its not a failure" Well, if you don't win the world series what does it matter if you win 100 or 80? Ya know? I say this not only about the Yankees, but about all teams. That's how I view it. If the Red Sox get knocked out, their season was a failure. Cut and dry. The ultimate goal is to win the world series. Remember when the Mariners won the most games ever and then got bounced from the playoffs? A professional sports season is all or nothing. You either win the championship, or fall short like the rest of the teams. That doesn't mean the team sucks, or that all losers are equal failures. It just means "there's always next year". The season didn't work out. |
