An (incomplete) guide to Australian indie
So I was posting that Bluejuice thread and thought to myself, 'there's a wealth of great independent music in this country, but we don't really hear it about it much on here, since obviously this tends to be an American and European-dominated forum'. Those words exactly. For my part, I haven't exactly done much to help the situation since I dig a lot of international bands, a lot of times more than ones that come from Australia.
But that said, a lot of my favourite bands *are* Australian, and for those of you who are overseas and may not have had exposure to some of them, this is a brief rundown of some of the better acts (imo) that are trotting around our country. There's something for everyone! Folk, rock, electro, instrumental, pop, probably a couple other genres I'm forgetting... whatever. Enjoy the flavours of the Southern Hemisphere: Architecture in Helsinki Little Birdy Leader Cheetah Sarah Blasko The Grates Dappled Cities The Middle East Philadelphia Grand Jury Art Vs Science Pivot Art of Fighting The Whitlams I Heart Hiroshima Hungry Kids of Hungary Angus & Julia Stone Love of Diagrams The Drones Wolf & Cub --------------------------------------- Jesus, I'm stuffed. Way too much goodness. Enjoy, ignorami. ![]() ![]() ![]() Quote:
