And yeah, Hall and Nash were both buried before leaving... because they were leaving. I'm not really sure the relevance of that in relation to WWE possibly trying to build up the gimmick with other guys. Regardless of how they went out, they were big names, hence the stir caused by them jumping ship.

I think the original idea was to show that it was Vince's characters in Diesel and Razor that got Nash and Hall over and not their ability in the ring or otherwise.
Kinda saying "Go to WCW, you're not worth a damn as individuals anyway. It was my genius characters that were popular and I'll prove this by continuing the characters with new guys".
Obviously nobody bought it.
