Movies You Wish You Could See With Fresh Eyes....
Like, in the context of the time, rather than through the jaded eyes of modern times.
For example: The Wizard of Oz: Seeing the transition to colour in a time where colour folm was still in its infancy would probably have been pretty cool. Alien: By the time I was old enough to really watch the movie, I'd seen just about every surprising part imitated or parodied. I appreciate the impact it had, but my reactions were kind of dulled by knowing what was going to happen. Similarly: Jaws: Also parodied, plus everyone knew the Jaws theme by the time we were like, five. In fact, when I see the title screen, I smile and think of Airplane. 2001: A space something something: Ground-breaking effects. “There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”--John Rogers |
