When ever I played on PS2, whenever I didnt need to hear what was doing on, I plugged the audio cable in from my CD Player instead of the PS2 audio cable. Worked out pretty well really.

OPM UK gave it a 10 out of 10 as well. These aren't reviewers to really go crazy about but it's still something.

In the OPM review they mention that the comedy clubs you can go to have real comedians.

Biggest announcement today is that the game has gone gold. There are also other tidbits that Lazlow let loose:

* There are over 100 radio commercials in the game.
* Announcements on the subway system will randomly alert you of spontaneous police harassment, security checks and searches.
* The faux-beer brand "Piswasser" takes a jab at Budweiser, including a radio commercial sung by Anthony himself.
* GTA IV's in-game internet is ridiculously extensive, featuring spoofs of liberal and conservative news sources with coverage of your in-game antics, as well as spoofs popular blogs and websites (craigslist, for example). Irritating pop-up banner ads also make an appearance.
* Niko can hook up with a wide range of girls via dating websites.
* Injuries mean much more in GTA IV. When Niko gets shot in the leg, for example, he'll begin to bleed and limp.
* Recording sessions for dialogue and in-game audio went on for ten hours a day, five days a week. The entire process took weeks to finish.
* Rockstar employees have been working overtime and well into the weekends to complete the game.
* Between the Xbox 360 version of the game and the PS3 version, Lazlow admits that he prefers the 360 version thanks to the downloadable content; new missions, new characters, new comedy, etc.

Jesus, I get more and more excited about this game every day.

I bet this will be the defining game of this console generation as GTA III was last gen.

As for DLC, I read (maybe here) that the map was originally supposed to be the size of New York state. I'd LOVE for them to release the rest of the state. Or at least New Jersey, which would be the easier one because of its size and could add more to the mob-type atmosphere.

It's been Microsoft and their magazines that have been going on about the DLC so it's hard to tell if it's an exaggeration or not. But if it's true, the expansions are suppose to bring entire islands the size being compared to the islands from GTA III, Vice City, and less likely San Andreas. So not just some extra missions and new cars but pretty much entire new games.

Seems like a big package to fill but if true that would be great.

I bet this will be the defining game of this console generation as GTA III was last gen.

As for DLC, I read (maybe here) that the map was originally supposed to be the size of New York state. I'd LOVE for them to release the rest of the state. Or at least New Jersey, which would be the easier one because of its size and could add more to the mob-type atmosphere.
GTA III sucked ass, that is all.

Compared to the later games, sure (though I've recently gone back and it's still a blast). But there's no denying that it was THE game that defined last gen. Without GTA3 (and without going through the Driver series technicalities) not as many games would have had that free-roaming, do whatever the fuck you want feel (and of course other aspects). It forced other genres, even, to adapt. It is the single most important game this decade.

I have to agree with you, I did play VC first, and when I played GTA III I hated everything about it. The cars were made of tinfoil, the targeting was fucked, missions were weird and difficult starting off, and the cops were brutal.

The game went gold this weekend and is being shipped to stores now so really the only news on this is going to be reviews and such for the next 7 days. Then people will have the game and this thread will no longer be about news so much as it will amazing moments in the game.

In multiplayer, you can use your phone to dial and have private conversations with members of your own team or of the opposing team. So give a call to an enemy -- one who's not too bright -- and act like you are on his team. Who knows, he may just be dumb enough to follow your instructions. And if nothing else, at least you can mock him until he hangs up his phone.
