Depending on how you feel about the whole Online Pass situation, Ed Boon tries to explain why the idea is very good and helpful for his studio.

Definitely enjoying it. I absolutely love that each character has an ending in the arcade mode, plus there's a full story mode. Pretty awesome that they didn't skimp out on stuff for single player modes (like MvC3).

Also, I love Stryker's non fatality victory pose. Definitely one of the most bad add ever. If you haven't seen it, check it out.

On a side note, I really want Shang Tsung's arcade ending to be cannon, as that would be fucking sweet.

SPOILER: show
He takes Shao Kahn's soul, and is overwhelmed with power and about to kill himself. Before he does, Bo Rai Cho comes and helps train Shang so he can control his new power. Bo needs to help Shang because he's the only one powerful enough to stop Liu Kang, who has essentially become a god himself and gone mad with power.

Check the date the thread was started, genius. Also note that this thread has been near the top of the page for about 3 months now.

I bought this yesterday and I fucking love it. I was very pessimistic going into this, as I have been disappointed by all the recent mk releases, but this game really impressed. The style and pacing is right up my alley. Enjoy it more than any fighter outside of SFIV. I really enjoyed the story mode. Yeah the dialogue is hokey as fuck, but whatever. Looking forward to the inevitable sequel, to see where this new MK mythology goes from here.

Awesome game. I ended up paying 41 dollars for the Kollectors Edition after trading in like 10 PS2 games & 2 PS3 games.

HOLY SHIT! I just watched a clip of Lui Kang vs Ermac, the fatality was Kang bounced Ermac's face off of an oncoming train then fucking THREW HIM into the oncoming train. It was a holy shit moment!

I noticed that Lui Kang was still going "wah wah wooo woo wah" in his high pitched voice that he's been doing since the first game. Was a little annoying.

The animation is more detailed, although I personally don't know if the fun factor will be there for me anymore......I've beaten the shit out of many Mortal's in the past that if I go and get this game I'll feel it has Madden syndrome.

Okay.

It's just that I've heard many people talk about 'beating' a fighting game and getting bored with it or whatever as if it was an adventure game or something. Get a bit if that in this forum, too. I'd think, "Don't you have living opponents? Arcade/Story modes are not the point of fighting games." Always found it strange.

Ed Boon states in an interview that the team is working on a new system to deliver updates that don't require big patches or mandatory downloads.

Only game I can think of that did something similar recently was Monday Night Combat and their stats tweaking but even that game required patches to fix some stuff. EA might also be doing something similar with their games being tied to EA accounts on the servers.

Gameplay is finallly back to what it should be and it has more depth thanm any mk before it. just fantastic. the only thing this contends with for me is the nostalgia i have for mk trilogy which is my fav fighter of all time.
