This is absolutely ridiculous beyond all sense of reason.

If a catcher traps the ball, he's going to tag the runner 100 times out of 100, not try to "bluff" it and hope nobody calls him on it. I couldn't care less what your credentials are, that simply doesn't make sense.

Listen, I am not saying it wasn't a damn smart play by AJ. I am just saying it was a pretty shittacular call. I framed pitches all the time, that's a catcher's instinct really. I just don't really see him rolling the ball as selling it. A catcher knows when he catches the ball, and he knew he caught it. I liked the way Zeille put it when he talked to Jim Rome. Like Hero said, maybe this will add some drama to this series and it will become a good one because I wasn't feeling it after game 1.

see.. i'm biased either way.

I dig the series so far just because I'm a Sox fan and then I dig the great pitching because that was my position.

and I still think the blame lies with Josh Paul for not tagging AJ out just to be sure. oh well... on to game three.

Just for the record I was the utility infielder for the 1997 kansas city royals and based on my experience it was a strike out but a bad play by Paul nonetheless

Roy Oswalt pitched a gem tonight. The Stro's needed it too. Chris burke is having one of the post seasons that even the best players dream of. Clemens goes in game 3. Astros could take command of this series.


Am i the only person that thinks the Cards bats look old?

Also i agree with YOUR Hero. I'm glad Doug Edding royaley fucked that strike call. Now i'm actually very intrested in Game 3 of the ALCS.

I love how ARod is getting destroyed by the media and no one has said a word about Vlad who has produced less than ARod along with costing the team runs with horrid fundemental defense. I hate ARod as much as the next guy but its just funny now how he's such an easy target and Vlad never recieves any negative criticism.

A-rod's always the prime target because he makes the most, until someone has a higher paycheck, they will expect A-rod to win the triple crown by hitting .400, breaking the single season HR & RBI records, breaking the record for steals, perfect in the feild and probably pitch a shut out or two... and win a world series and be League MVP, ALCS MVP and WS MVP. Till then, no one will be satisfied.

As for Vlad, correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't he been playing on bad knees for 2 years? If that is the case, why hasn't he been moved from OF to DH?

I think it's more of the fact that ARod opens his mouth a whole lot more than Vlad. The whole "I played like a dog" thing really hurt him more because of the money he makes and the fact, just like you said, that people hold him up so high.

Not only is it Vlad's knees but he also has a bad shoulder (which is scary because of the gun he has) and a bad wrist. If you read up on his various injuries, most writers will suspect that he only has about 2 or 3 productive years left in his career. Which really is a shame because I don't think he is, right now, as good as he really could be.

Also Konerko's stock is rising faster than anyone right now. He looked like a great fit for Oakland before the playoffs but he's probably out their price range thanks to his performance.

NY/BOS. Knoblauch's mystery tag was the famous play but there were about 10-15 shitty calls a game, most of them screwing Nomar. I don't remember if NY/BAL was all that shitty or if there was just one bad call on the HR.

Jimmy I think finnally got tossed arguing plans.

Steinbrenner after the game blamed the fans reaction on Jimmy Williams, that if he didn't argue the calls, the fans wouldn't have done anything.

I must admit, I miss Williams, he was a decent (not great) manager and was very old school, hated the modern press (TV-Radio). Everything was "Managers decision" he never hung a player out.

The mystery tag was probably the worst call I've ever seen in my life. I remember the Boston Hearld had a huge picture of it on the backpage. You could see the ump making an out call while the ball was a good foot away from Nomar's back.

Yeah this ump crew is fucking terrible, a crapload of bad calls. Also, did anyone notice that throw to third, the ump got in the way of Figgins so Figgins practically had to push the ump out of the way?

Definately hope these umps get sent down to AAA next year.

Oh and as for the ALCS. I dont care if the ball was caught, dropped, the call blown, or called right. It doesnt matter. The Angels are playing like complete and utter dogshit. Vlad might wanna actually try to earn his paycheck pretty soon here. Like preferably the next game before he goes and spends it all in the offseason.

You're one of the best players in the league and also one of the highest paid in the league, in the ALCS and you're hitting .062 ? Its a stick up!

Yeah the hitter's choked for 4 games, the pitching had nothing to do with it. Those complete games are irrelevant.
